Title: Norge Tail Light Extension: How to Remove?
Post by: JeffOlson on March 07, 2015, 04:15:13 PM
I am cleaning up the rear end of my new Norge, removing the ugly reflectors, "antlers," and brackets. All I have left to do is remove the metal extension bracket between the license plate light and the rear fender.

However, it looks like I may need to remove the inner fender lining to access a couple of bolt heads. The ends of the bolts protrude rearward into the metal extension bracket. I was hoping to find nuts behind the rubber washers, but no such luck.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!

By the way, the owners's manual suggests, "due to the complexity of this operation," that I have the dealer replace my license plate light (if it ever needs replacing)...

If you want to take off rear fender extension you have to first take off rear side body panels, then metal rear grab rail, then you can get it off.

Maybe I wasn't clear (or maybe I am not understanding you), but I do not want to remove the rear fender extension. I want to remove a little metal bracket that attaches to the rear fender at one end and to the license plate light at the other end. It is about three inches across, two inches long, and one inch high.

The license plate light is attached to it with two bolts that protrude from the license plate light into this little metal bracket. It is secured by two small bolts which are easily accessed from beneath, because this little metal extension bracket is open on the underside.

It is the other end that concerns me. No nuts are visible, just two rubber grommets and the two bolts that protrude from them into this little metal extension bracket.

This little metal bracket is clearly an add-on. It is like the other visual safety bits that I just removed.

Hopefully there are indeed small nuts beneath the rubber grommets. If there are, I am golden. If not, then I will need to access the bolt heads either by dropping the inner fender liner and searching for them from below or by removing the seat and searching for them from above.
