USB CONNECTION KIT V7 STONE

Anyone use this? I just bought one, and am curious how it actually connects to the bike?

The bike is supposedly prewired for this, so I think you just need to find the connector. Perhaps it is under the seat.

A photo or link would most helpful for those of us who don't have a clue about said kit.

On my '14 v7 Special, I found an unused connector in the wiring bundle behind the headlight that supplies 12vdc with the ignition on.
On the wiring diagram it is labeled for GPS. Not sure if the connector matches what is in the posted photo.
Might be worth looking at.

Battery tender makes a nice kit, simple to install right to the battery.  That is what I did in my Eldorado, but my dealer had already unstable an "SAE" plug for me to plug my USB adapter into.  Your dealer could probably help you with this, too.

What do you mean? You replaced what your dealer did with the Battery Tender version? I figured i'd go with the one Moto Guzzi sells with their kits. I looked around under the seat for the connector hookup, didn't see anything obvious.

Is it the one right on top/next to air filter? Ots right there... Shouldn't be hard to find really.

You can find this for about $10.  Hooks right to the Tender pigtail on the battery.  Hope you didn't pay out the ass for that one.

I did, i just figured since it is pre-wired...
Anyway, that would explain why nobody sells them. Does the Tender come with wires? ..Go gently, i'm a dipshit..

Do you have a Battery Tender pigtail attached to your battery?  If not, I'll send you one.  Whatever you're charging should have a long wire to plug into the USB.  And yes, if you buy a Battery Tender (Junior - I have one for each bike), it comes with an SAE pigtail to attach to the battery.

It actually might be the correct the connector type. Here's the one I lopped off my Special:

Omg not unstable!  Auto correct!  Installed, they had already installed!  I don't think they offer a kit for the 1400.  Sorry about the confusion.

I think you did the right thing getting the official one though, even if it cost more.   That's what I would have done starting from scratch....but I am sure others will disagree.

Do what suits you.  As you get more comfortable working on your bike stuff like this will seem easy.  Enjoy you bike!

"Hooks right to the  on the battery."

Well maybe because my battery has no Tender pigtails? Regardless, that was the point of this thread... i'm trying to figure it out.

So, there is a GPS connector already in place on the V7 ? Is it suitable to power a Garmin ?

I would ask your dealer, for sure - there is probably a plug somewhere but that stuff can get tucked out of sight.

The connector in your picture is water resistant if not waterproof, which would be one reason to stick with the factory set up.

Hopefully someone on this site with the same bike will chime in if the dealer is not available.

Also, you should try guzzitech.com forums, they are very helpful.

Good luck!

Yes, it's wire tied up behind the headlight between the forks.  It is green in color, and fits a Tom Tom GPS.  I changed out the connector to run my Garmin.  It's hot with the switched ignition.

So have we figured out that's where the factory USB kit goes?

If so cool.

Me, I'm buying the Battery Tender one because every single bike in the fleet has a battery tender harness so it makes it real convenient to move it from bike-to-bike.

I just looked at Jay's new-to-him '14 Special I'm temporarily storing in my garage.  Found it right away behind the headlight on the left side behind the ear.  Easy access if you unbolt the headlight bucket.   I snapped a photo, but can't post it here until I get back home.  You can PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you.

The piece in the picture is GU2000166.  It's USB power only.  The ability to read the data comes with the GMP bluetooth ECU 2S000157 plus one of two wiring harnesses:

2S000170-for the V7II
2S000156-for the Cali 1400

I'd spent some time researching this...

The multimedia platform & kit. I had never heard of this until now. Is it pointless? I was just looking for a usb charge, so i could theoretically use phone navigation. Anyway, this doesn't seem to be really available in the states?
