V50 Enduro 'Wet Country Special'
« on: November 16, 2018, 04:08:11 PM »

Hi to All,
New to your forum from Cork in Ireland , i too suffer from tbe incurable guzzitytis virus from many years.
We do quite a bit of offroading in the middle of the 'bladder of Ireland' namely the Cork-Kerry mountains and i had to fly the Italian flag.

i build this a couple of years ago from an old v50 rusting away in a friend's shed, the goal was a useable bike in all weathers, with very highly positionned air intake, good suspensions, shaft drive and limited carrying capacity.
Front fork is Marzocchi from a Cagiva elephant 900, modified to take a Suzuki DR 21" front wheel and disc.
Back is an NTX swing arm with a Nevada hub laced on an 18" rim.
Shocks are custom made ShockFactory with 16mm shaft. They are short enough not to put strain on the drive shaft.
Exhausts ,seat, back frame are custom made and the tank comes from an Ardie 250 of 1939 that a poor fecker from the German Army left behind in Normandy.
Colour is Yamaha candy orange from the mid-seventies ( but i know that red ones are faster, of course...)
Its been used extensively for two seasons now and has been nothing but pleasure, (especially the chain greasing ceremonies) Hope you like it

Very creative!  I like your bike!  There are not many street bikes - especially street bikes with shaft drive - that lend themselves to an off-road conversion.   The early series smallblocks (considerably lighter than the current smallblocks) are among the few OE street bikes that are viable in this expanded role.  Nice job!  Looks like a very entertaining machine.
