Title: v7c fuel filter
Post by: rbond on April 26, 2019, 02:24:44 PM
I have a 2012 V7C, that has the original fuel filter. Don't know if it is an all metal or half plastic. Not having any problems yet, do have about 13k miles on it though. I have the NAPA replacement filter, my question is, what size stainless steel screw type  hose clamps do I get and where from? Thanks

You could get the oetiker clamps (& the tool to close them). We know they work. I use some stainless screw type hose clamps with rolled edges to cope with tubing, there are a few types available. Get a couple extra for the breather hoses on the valve covers - these are easier to remove & replace. An idea also to have a length of submersible hose (Gates SAE 30R10 5/16ths) - 7 inches should be enough - to replace the old one between the filter & the pump. It's awkward if it fails on the road.

To my knowledge, the half plastic filter was the issue on the V7's, not the fuel lines.  Unlike the earlier bikes. The lines on my '14 Special were the correct submersible "plastic" type.

As malik said you must use SAE30R10 specification hose. Other hoses will fail if fully submersed.
I use these clamps. They provide even clamping pressure and will not cut into the hose like screw drive clamps.
