1200 Sport Refresh V2.0

Last year I bought Ohioriders 1200 Sport. The bike was in amazing shape, but I wanted to go over it all, fresh fluids, Beetle Map a new dash (original crapped out and had a Breva unit), added GPS power port and heated grips. I put about 1K miles on it before my knee replacement in the fall, and it has slumbered all winter and made the final mechanical need of the oil pressure switch. I also replaced the 'snorkel' on the airbox because I didn't like the sound and felt like it negatively effected performance. I did the same on the Griso, prefer the sound and engine response as designed.

In getting it ready for this summer riding season and a couple planned long trips, I made a few more modifications and refinements to include adding adjustable levers, aux led lights, a knight design toe extension for the brake lever, and today added a HB topcase rack and Corbin Seat which I also got from Bob. 

Some pics. Not ideal due to the tight garage, will take more on the road this weekend. I test mounted the Corbin and it is about 1" taller than the stock seat and will be perfect for LD work. I'll be adding a HB topcase soon as the 30L side cases aren't great for long trips. Also will be good for when the MRS decides to come along. I like the look of the HB rear rack, and will leave it on year round.
 












Knight Design toe extension is perfect. I discovered after my joint replacements that I couldn't pivot my toe in to catch the rear brake, so this is perfect.




In the new 'cockpit' layout, the GPS is centered, and my cellphone for music and GPS speedometer/other with the TPMS is on the left for ease of view. 




Planning a 200 mile ride this Saturday for a full shake down.

Very well done, that's pretty close to being the ultimate guzzi sport TOURER. 

I can't believe how stylish those bags look from the front or side, they're humungous, but they have very nice smooth round lines; you'll be well set to haul a** and loads with that rig 

What are you running for a GPS, and what's your opinion or thoughts on it?

To the left of the cockpit looks like an empty rack for a tablet, what device are you putting in there or is that rack surplus and coming off?

Thanks, it is a sweet ride, and perfect for what I wanted. I always loved the Sport and wanted one for years, but never came across one that was available.

The Hepco Becker 30L side cases look big but pack small. Fine for 1 person, but make camping a challenge.

The GPS is a Tom Tom, one of the new models. I just got it, so am learning it. The Ram mount is for an old waterproof cell phone I have used for years for music, gps speedo, and had a map program that didn't need broadband. It was OK, but difficult to plot routes and such. The Tomtom lets you plot on a computer and send to the device.

Only on my commute or on the super slab

Great 250 mi shakedown of the 1200 sport today. Variety of State highways back roads and even some gravel in the mix.

Was my first time trying the TomTom 550 it gets a B+ rating. The only thing that I was not pleased with was that it routed me off main roads onto little gravel streets to maintain the curve count I guess. Other than that it was awesome.

The bike ran flawlessly once warmed up but it stalls when you give it throttle when the engine is cold. Average 44 miles per gallon for the day mostly spirited riding.

Sourced a HB Junior 55 topcase for a great deal, and now with the Corbin and rack with topcase the 12S is ready for summer touring. Unfortunately will miss the National in NH due to work obligations, but I launch the Monday after Fathers Day for a 7 Day ride in VA, WVA, MD, PA, NY, CONN, then Long Island. Have the first part planned, but not the return home. My daughter will be visiting from Colorado, so will likely Super Slab most of it back home.

Plan to Hit Niagara Falls, Finger Lakes, Crows Nest, Cooperstown, West Point and places in between. CANT WAIT!

SWMBO is happy and to my amazement recognized the seat as being similar to that on my Norge. She was very happy to learn it will be almost identical. She hated the MGX, and has missed taking long trips (or so she says....) Ignore the mess in the garage, I have everything packed in a 1 car space and am in the middle of a couple plumbing projects.
