TPS connector options
« on: January 13, 2015, 03:12:07 AM »
God I'm praying someone can help here, long story short Ive damaged the 3 pin connector plug that goes in to the TPS on the Guzzi v7 (was fitting Power commander)

does anyone know where I can get these or if there is a generic 3 pin fit ?

this looks like the same connector though this one is a 4 pin.

Different time zone to most as I'm in Australia so I will not be able to reply to most posts until tomorrow "sorry about that"

Thanks.

If the connector is the same as what is used on the '98 EV you are looking for something like this:  http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Delphi-Connection-Systems/12110293/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMs7eK6h2EBtKtZWmdIJZ52nSwYQSqigu9I%3d

Notice that what is included in the link is the connector housing; you also have to order the crimp terminals that fit inside, as well as the rubber seals that fit around the wires and slip into the openings on the back side of the housing.

Click on the "Data Sheet" link when the Mouser.com page opens.  This will take you to Delphi's site.  When that page opens click on the "Documents" tab on the right, and then scroll down under the "2D Drawings" heading and open the second file under that heading (15324700_sheet_1)) in your photo viewer (it is a .tiff file).  That file shows the connector and dimensions in a detailed drawing.  Check the dimensions and layout of the connector to be sure this is the one (there are so many different connectors available it will make your head spin!).

You can get the part numbers for the crimp terminals and the seals from the first Delphi page that opened (click on the "related Products" tab and look at the several options).  Record the part numbers and use them with the search function on Mouser's site and you can find everything you need.

I don't know if Mouser regularly ships to Oz.  You might also look at Digikey.com - they have locations that ship internationally.

NOTE:  This link is from a fellow who has complete kits available:  http://www.cycleterminal.com/metri-pack-150.html.  I have ordered other things from him before and he is a very good seller - quick to ship.  I don't know if he is prepared to ship to OZ nor do I know what the shipping cost might be.  If you order from him, Mouser or Digikey be sure to order more crimp terminals than you need - you are going to ruin at least one or two learning how to put them on without the "factory" crimp terminal tools.

Good luck!

Bill

If I am not wrong, the TPS is a Magneti Marelli PF1C/00

The matching connector should be Delphi 12162182

Australia RS Component has them in stock at $5.90 a piece (female terminals not included), same day dispatch, free delivery.

I might have an old wiring harness that has a plug. (I recently moved and it might take a while to find it).

Good catch, Phang.  Metri-Pack 150 and Metri-Pack 150.2 connectors do not interchange.  The one you posted does not require ordering the seals for the back of the connector - a three-wire seal is included with the housing "assembly" (I have two of them sitting on the corner of my desk - Mouser part number 829-12162182).  The Mouser crimp terminal part number is 829-12161184.  Perhaps that will help.

You are right Bill, 105 has two types that key-ed differently  ;-T

Looking at the Magneti Marelli TPS receptacle shape, it should be Type 101 in the drawing below

I love this site, thanks for the quick responses everyone.

the part shown have are a little different to mine, however the PDF http://docs-asia.electrocomponents.com/webdocs/12ba/0900766b812ba8b7.pdf is exactly what i'm looking for "type 101" sad thing is there is no part number.

its difficult to explain but in phangs picture (even though it looks identical) the openings are different as they are on the left hand side instead of the right, does this matter see hyperlinks and compare to phangs.

Hi jcb72,

You have got a sharp eye for details.

I got confused for a moment too, until I took a closer look at the picture I posted above.

This is how it should look like, the slots are on same side as the one in the drawing, take note of the orientation of the letter "B"

This is the photo which I posted above with the slots on the wrong side, look at the orientation of letter "B", it's facing the other side.

Now, If I flip the same photo using photo editing software, the orientation of the "B" and the slots are correct again.

I think, someone from RS component has flipped the original photo of the connector when they put it on their website for unknown reason resulting a connector that never exist, confusing a bunch of Guzzi riding guys  ;D
