crossover pipes
« on: December 06, 2022, 10:28:27 AM »
Greetings, Anyone know if there is an issue with running two exhaust crossover pipes? I have a pair of racing megaphone mufflers with crossover under the trannie and another right below the alternator. If if I remember correctly I had some header pipes without the front crossover that I believe came with the mufflers. I was told at the time that it that the mufflers and straight header pipes were a factory racing item but I have no idea if that is true. They are nicely done. I had cut the reverse cone off the muffles and installed some Vance and Hines baffles, then welded the cones back on. They sound awesome. That was a long time ago and I cannot find the straight pipes, damn. Now I have two crossovers.

I don't think the double xover pipes were a negative . Mine ran fine with them and the usual LaFranconis for mufflers .
You can simply remove the one under the trans and simply install a straight or slightly angled pipe from an auto supplier.

I've ran both with no noticeable seat of the pants difference...that was with small internal dia downpipes though.

I bought a R75/5 in 1970, a very early one. It had a cross over in front just below the timing cover if I remember correctly. Anyway it was up front. A few years later the Airheads had a second added below the transmission. I was told at the time why it was added but I don't remember why.
