By the way...have you ever read the book upon which the movie Josey Wales is based?

No I haven’t, but thanks for the tip. I did read “Mountain Man” by Vardis Fisher, however, the book on which Jeremiah Johnson was based. Beautiful at times but a lot of cruelty as well. And very politically incorrect nowadays.

No one seems to have mentioned the recent death of Sondra Locke. She was in a few of Clint’s movies. A perk of being his girlfriend, I guess.

And did everyone notice Seinfeld’s “Uncle Leo” among the Josey Wales cast?

Jeremiah Johnson, now that's my favorite movie of all time. I'll see if my library has that book. Thanks for the tip

I thought she was pretty good in The Gauntlet...easy on the eyes to be sure.

The author that wrote Gone to Texas, cant remember his name, was honored for his accurate portrayal of various indigenous peoples. then they found out that he was a speech writer for George Wallace...........  this is not to be taken as political, please, just history

"Gone to Texas", "Vengeance Trail of Josie Wales", "The Education of Little Tree".
Asa Carter. Some folks got worked up about his past. I went to school when literature was discussed objectively, so I can still enjoy them.

You're welcome!

I'll never forget the scene in Josey Wales where her character was in the covered wagon being ogled by a bunch of "ornery" men. Cringe worthy.

How on earth do you remember all those lines?

The Gauntlet
Any which way you can
All the Dirty Harry movies after the first two.
Bronco Billy  etc.

He's made some truly terrible flicks.  Like most actors.
He lost the run of himself.

The Unforgiven is another I enjoyed. Clint plays a convincing role as a reformed bad guy , William Money, a killing man

that was a good one.  Better than the other Eastwood domestic made westerns IMO.

We mostly check movies out from the library, so Clint's new one has to wait. But in searching for it there was another one titled "The Mule". Turns out it's based on a true story set in Australia. At first I wondered what we'd gotten ourselves into, but it turned out to be an excellent flick. I'd highly recommend it.

As for Forrest Carter's alleged past, I find it extremely hard to believe someone who could write those books would have done those things. Read them yourself and see what you think.

I haven’t seen it, but I have enjoyed most of Eastwoods movies.
Wow a fair amount of you don’t have much use for Strep!   She is an excellent actor, that is certain, but she does seem to sour for old white guys.  Not all of course, but enough to see a pattern.   My theory as to why is,  she is able to play characters so realistic that she either conscious or unconsciously reminds you of women in your own lives.

As to the movie I saw this review of it last weekend, maybe perspective has a lot to do with it?

Though I think Ms. Streep is a passing good actor, my opinion has nothing to do with her other public statements.

That said, sometimes I wish she would show more depth.

I read all the Carter books, enjoyed them all. Not really shocked that he might have written political things that I really don't like-people have great depths of feeling and thought.

You’re just dicking with us right?   She is one of if not the most accomplished and respected actress of our time. I’m not huge fan of her myself, but I do recognize her outstanding abilities.

A little bit, but I have found sometimes later she was playing something a bit less original. Of course it could be the director wanting a "Meryl Streep" performance than her own interpretation..

I liked her "punk" character in the "Rickie" movie.
