Am I correct in assuming that both of these bikes would need to have the rollerized valve kit installed? If so given a fair amount of mechanical skill can I do this myself? If not what would it cost to have it done at a Guzzi dealer? Just so I know what the real potential cost might be.Dave
Nope, both are rollers from the factory. Rollers started 2012-and all 2013 were rollers.Mine is a 2014, and I'm 1/2 convinced it initially came off the assembly line as a 2013 flat tappet bike and was converted to roller, but done poorly, with one cam out of sync by 1 tooth. I bought it in 16 from a wholesaler, and from what we could tell, it was bought in October of 2015 as a 2014 leftover, the dude took lots of pics of it, ran it for 800 miles without the bags, then traded it in in March of 16 at an LA Harley Dealer for a............ Sportster..... It went to auction and I picked it up for $7k with about 800 miles. Bike wouldn't rev over 6k, and after 1500 miles of experimenting had MI check the cam/valve timing. Walla.......... All is good. At 11K miles now, and is a sweet ride, no other issues other than weeping grub screws.I've added an extra LED driving light, upgraded horn, rear LED stop/tail lights, and a USB charging port. I also moved the mirrors to the fairing, I didn't like the handlebar mounted mirrors. The new ones are smaller, and provide a smaller sight picture, but are convex and more functional. need to work on the seating position a bit, the stock seat pushes me forward too much, and the Corbin is too hard on the outer edges and too deep. I need to have it rebuilt and raised about an inch, with softer side edge. The Norge really is a great do it all motorcycle. Sporting, solid and stable but nimble, hangs well in the twisties, great power, smooth, comfortable, and light enough. Great luggage/storage.
Sorry, just being pedantic BD9
