CalVin aftermarket windshields?
« on: February 23, 2015, 01:29:45 PM »
I'm looking to upgrade to something that actually blocks the wind instead of just forcing it into my upper chest and face. I added a Laminar Lip a few months ago and while it helped a tiny bit, it has not really addressed the problem. I like to to use my 3/4 and 1/2 helmets on occasion but this stock w/s just makes that something for very short rides, at best. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

From Harpers Moto Guzzi. The H&H works great. Pricey but worth it. Some may suggest the rifle wind screen. Nice one too!

Thanks for the quick reply. I saw the Swanee reproduction at Harper's but they are way out of my budget range. Plus, I think a modification is necessary to get it to fit the CalVin properly and for that kinda dough, you'd think Harper's would offer something to have it fit from the get-go. :o
I'll have a look at the Rifle ones. Thanks!

Might also try Gustafsson   http://www.bikescreen.com or  California Science   http://www.calsci.com/
I have used both and have been very pleased with both and prices are reasonable. If they do not list a screen specifically for the Cal 1400 contact them anyway as they may be working on it. That is what happened with Cal Sci when I first got my 2011 Norge.

Rifle has many options (width, height, tint) for Calvin windshield replacements. They bolt on to the stock mounts and only cost $160. I added Vetter Pop-Vents to mine...Pop Vents reduce buffeting and provides some heat relief in the summer: about $40, delivered. $200 for the whole shootin' match...

harpers H&H is worth it

and doesn't require any modding.

I took the stock windshield and laid it down as low as it would go and it helped.

Jerry, I have no experience with them, but this thread touches on the Vintage/batwing coupling...

No modification needed except moving the Spotlights which are mounted to the original windshield brackets not the bike.

Don't think of it as a Swanee reproduction, more of a resurrection if you will. After all for that kinda dough you get a MUCH stronger piece of equipment.
