Cal II rearset shifter issues
« on: February 26, 2015, 07:12:42 AM »
I'm struggling with the linkage for the shifter.  I moved the pegs up and back.  The current shift lever on the transmission is short compared to other pictures I've seen of various Sp's and LeMans.  It's making it difficult to create a linkage to the shifter- Does someone have a spare splined lever I can modify or suggestions?
I'll post a picture later today.

I don't mind welding things up but I hate to change the splined lever if it doesn't work well.  I'm on a no money budget so I can fabricate but not spend much at this time.

This is Lurker's setup.  I can fabricate the rearset  but I'm unclear how long to extend the stock splined lever to make it work.

This is the current splined lever and connector.

Do you have the intermediate linkage that was an oem piece on the Cali. ? That would help in the design dept., though it adds more parts which can create more potential slop issues. Or, you can purchase this Ago arm. Good luck.

I've had those same Agostini rear sets on my LM3 for a good 20 years now.  Paid all of $200, which I naively thought was rather expensive.  I'm liking the Ago arm that Dick posted the link for.  Hope that you figure out a solution to your problem.  Good luck from me, also.

Thanks guys!  That is the arm I'm looking for.
Can anyone give me the dimension from the spline  to the end of the arm?
That would allow me to make a new piece.

I do have the old intermediate linkage but it's placement is causing me issues with proportions.  I was even considering making a shifter directly off the linkage.

Maybe a Loopframe shift arm would work? IIRC, it's about 2.5" long.

It could work but it seems a little shorter than the Agostini.  Using the photo of the Agostini part and my stock part  I can get some rough measurements- enough to weld it up.
Using the Agostini setup I can eliminate the intermediate linkage.  Would you have an extra loop shifter?

Well, I used the picture to figure out the proportions and welded up a piece.

My next question is why is there a separate arm for the linkage on the Agostinis?
