Fork top plate 1000S
« on: January 12, 2019, 10:52:26 AM »
The part number is GU14493171, but is out of stock. Any idea where I can find one new or used? Or one similar? Was the triple tree for the 1000S sourced from another model? It's difficult finding any data on these things, but it should take 40mm tubes with a 195mm width.

Thanks Charlie. Whoa - expensive little bugger. The British site (where they're back ordered) were about half that. I'm using the Cali 1000 triple tree, but the top yoke drops about an inch at the stanchions and would rather have it level. But for $250 I'll put up with it for now.

Were these triples sourced from another model so I could watch for a used one?

Stein Dinse shows it as being a 1000S only part, apparently not used on any other model.

So that's a 1000S only part. Figures

Since it's not absolutely necessary as I've already got a top clamp that works, it'll be a back-burner thing.

I think the Top Plate on the 1000s is the same as the Le Mans 1000, but polished aluminum instead of the painted black - not that those are any easier to find, but also keep that in the back-burner.

I've never measured center-to-center on a Le Mans 1000 triple. If it too is 195 mm, then it might be the same other than paint (or lack thereof).

Good point, I think it might be wider than 195mm, though not sure.

Edit: This adds to the confusion... 180mm? That'd doesn't seem right.

i think the 1000s yokes are polished. Not a big deal.

According to Guzziology, both the LM4 and 1000S have a 180mm center/center.  The Cali 1000,1100  have a 195mm center to center width. And they're all for 40mm tubes. I believe the 1000S with cast wheels is 180 (as Richardson states), but the wires would probably require a 195 - the wire front wheel is slightly wider and requires more space. That's the reason for swapping out the complete LM4 front end, and probably the extra expense when new of ordering cast wheels instead of the wires they came with.

I'm guessing the 1000S uses LM4 sliders, but with fender mounts. I like the Cali front end better since it positions the calipers for 300mm rotors, plus it's got the more normal offset.

I've wondered about some of the newer V7s running 40mm fork tubes but the C/C is all wrong.
