I bought a two-up seat for my V7cc
« on: May 28, 2015, 10:21:25 AM »
Someone bought a new bike and had the dealer replace the stock two-up seat with a gel type. I was able to purchase (ebay) the take-off, shipped to my door for a total of $100. I'm very happy with it, makes the bike look so different after being so used to my V7 Cafe Classic solo seat. My passengers will be happy too.

I was surprised to find the hand strap not functional. Did this guy glue it down or is this how they come from the factory?

This is how they came from the factory. Just decorative.

I'm surprised to hear this, disappointing. I can't use it, nor can I remove it because it has glue all over it. Grr!

You'll still need to fit a set of pegs for your pillion, correct? I don't think my cc came with them.

Correct, I had to purchase rear pegs. I found a killer deal on old stock, black anodized and knurled for $30 at a local shop. They appear OEM.

It has glue all over it??  That's not normal.  The hand strap on the seat isn't glued to the seat.  You should be able to slip things under it.

You can't lift the fake strap on the Stone's stock seat.  Ironically, the Special's seat has NO strap.

I just picked up a stone w/gel seat. The stock seat was thrown in w/ the deal. It does have a functional strap.

Wierd, the ones I've seen are glued/stitched down.

Mine is glued (and/or stitched)... Dumb styling point.

Mando, yours isn't a V7II is it? Cause that would make sense since they eliminated the grab handles that were on the previous V7 models (and were the reason they could have a fake strap).

 ;-T

That explains it.

In order to eliminate those chrome grab rails they had to make the strap real!

Thanks for the report.

I've been using this new two up seat for a few miles now and it isn't nearly as soft and comfortable as my color café seat. My passengers might disagree though.

I'm not looking at pics here, as I'm doing this from memory.
My V7C had a strap that was glued or stitched to the seat,
which to me was pretty useless, as I used to cram stuff
under the strap on my Kawi KZ400, and my Suzuki 650.

On the 2014 and newer bikes (I think) the Stone has the unstitched
strap and the Special and the Racer have the passenger grab rails.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
