MZ Skorpion -- here's one for your thumper fans
« on: June 14, 2015, 06:30:23 AM »
I know that there are few people on this forum who like these, and other street thumpers like the SRX.

This just got re-listed for a cheaper (Guzzi Content) BIN price of $2,150.

I had a green Sport Cup MZ with the same 660cc single engine.

I like the marque, but overall the Guzzi twin 750 has better performance for me.  The big single just wasn't as smooth in it's power on/power off.

And...I had to give up the racing crouch and move to standards.  My shoulders were killing me on long rides.

When I bought my MZ Silver Star in Oct. '13, the same guy had a "mint" Skorpion Tour with H-B luggage for $600 more. I thought long and hard about which one I'd rather have. The deciding factors were things that I didn't want: water-cooling and the weird "carburetor-and-a-half" setup used on the Yamaha engine. I don't regret that decision one bit.

I have a stock 2000 MuZ Tour.  Best handling bike I've ever ridden.  Also get's great gas mileage.  I've ridden it on 800 mile days on the stock seat w/gel pad added.  It goes over 200 mi. on a tank of gas.  My bike doesn't have clip-ons, it has a handlebar that leans you just a little bit forward(my preference) and the footpegs are adjustable.  :boozing:  5 valve adjustment is just like a Guzzi.  Never had any twin carb issues.  Only issue is every 600 mi. you have to add some motor oil(drysump).

Also have a 750 Breva which accelerates a little faster but can't match the MZ in handling, tho it handles good.
