After a long trip to Sturgis, South Dakota and back my odometer reached 6214 miles.  At this point the service required indication "Spanner Wrench" symbol popped up on my right display.   This is a normal indication in order to remind you to change the motor oil.  So after some reading here's how to clear the indication.

1. Turn key to the "On" position
2. Using your Modes button on right side handlebar flip thru options until you see "Menu".  Select it
3. Flip through the Menu options until you see "Service". Select it
4. Enter Service Code 34534
5. Flip through options until you see "Reset Coupon". Select it
6. When prompted "Yes" or "No" select Yes
7. Select "Exit"  and you're done.

You will need to do this every 6214 miles.

I would think it's a same procedure for the California 1400CC model due to its similarity to the MGX-21, but not completely sure.

I'd think so but it won't do any harm if you insert the wrong code, it will simply default back to the main menu. It will not damage anything.

sounds better than a Ducati where you have to take it to dealer and have them do it with there equipment.  And hope said dealer has updated their equipment with the current codes, so they won't give you blank looks.

I am the guilty one that cracked that code, and told the world.  Now newer models such as my V7-III Stone, and my V85-TT can only be reset by a registered dealer.  I wouldn't mind, but they overcharge for this simple task.

I doubt I'll be buying any more MG models (but I have said that before).

34534 is the code for all the 1400 series I think.  Seems like forever ago that I owned an MGX-21 for all of 9 months.  Don't miss it at all................ Cool to look at, but that was it for ME.... YMMV

What was my beef with it?
1. Big and Fat
2. Unstable below 35mph even with all kinds of adjustments
3. Unstable above 85 no matter what you did..... Cross winds? Turbulence from other vehicles? Fuhgetabout it...............
4. Horrible fuel mileage
5. Terrible unreadable gauges in direct sun that ALSO fogged up
6. Useless Radio, marginal stereo, unuseable Multimedia functions
7. Blowdryer heat blowing through the vent slots in the TB cover blistered calves
8. Useless side cases

I made tons of modifications to include mounting an OEM Norge Color Matched topcase with the Isotta  rear underseat bracket that made it liveable, but in the end it was an overweight boutique batmobile carbon fiber 'look at me' bike that I couldn't get rid of fast enough. Just NOT my kind of bike. I SOOOOOOO regret not buying an Eldorado. If I had, I would still have and be riding it 4 years later........ Oh well..............

I agree with all Bulldog said as it applied to my bike, an Audace which is the same as the MGX minus all the plastic. I also wish I had gotten an Eldorado instead. I would still have it. It got so that it was hard for me to handle the Audace at walking speeds. The Bonneville is suiting me just fine. Too bad MG doesn't build something similar.

It's much worse than that with most Ducati dealers these days.  If the dealership didn't do the work, they aren't supposed to clear the maintenance symbol.  That's the official word from Bologna!  Needless to say, with that attitude, I told the dealership I'd purchased my last Ducati.
