Oil spill thru air filter drain on SB
« on: June 05, 2019, 01:34:04 AM »
Just finalized a light restore and clean up of my 1983 V35C. Air filter box replaced, breather hoses replaced, oil return hose replaced, and the darn thing still spills a bit of oil thru the air filter oil drain. The bike has done 15.000km - not much. Did the same when arrived from the UK, but this was an issue I would fix during - yes this clean up and restore process. Oil level is normal too - no over fill. My own thinking: The cylinder head oil return channel clogged. The oil dowels in the cylinder heads are 3mm from the factory, perhaps too much oil goes to the valve rockers? 1mm was the original standard, then Guzzi advised a drill out to 2mm, them 3mm. Any thoughts?

I removed the air box, to me it looked too complicated. I made up my own return system using a fuel line cross as a manifold.
