Dirt Track racing Guzzi
« on: December 05, 2021, 10:18:10 AM »
Ward Jones, Joe and James Casey, Michael Springer

"HOOLIGAN TWINS HEAT
Fast Jon Cook took off. Michael Springer and I battled a little bit with Michael getting the best at the end. The Guzzi has always been a beast to handle. Low end lull and lack of traction made it even more difficult this round. It is still a work in motion though and there are plans for a 19 rim and bigger fatter tires. The lull I suspect they will find the cause and correct. Got a little hairy towards the end as well. Gopro vid clitched somehow and shows a short over clip of racing at the beginning but does end up starting out at the start line."

Looks like fun! He's sportin' Alex Mallot's Motocross numbers. Ace Mallot's son who tragically lost his life on the track. RIP Alex  :thumb:

Tell us about the Guzzi, what's it based on and what mods did you do to make it competitive?

Not mine, not affiliated with the team in any way. IIRC, it's V65 based.

As in every kind of racing, on 2 or 4 wheels, it's primarily the skill of the rider, plus his/her skill as a mechanic.
Many here know Randy Tefft, New Hampshire MGNOC Rep - He may still be a part of that group.

Randy was a serious competitor in Hill Climbs and dirt track road racing - Lario's & V50's.

A few details posted on Facebook by Tim Hewitt:

375A started life as a V50 but now has a 650 engine. 375 started as a 84 V65c and now has a 750 engine with 36mm mikuni carbs. We're working on 19" spoked wheels as there are more tire compounds available in 19 than 18. 3rd place podium last week. Running in the middle of a pack of some VERY hot Yamaha XS 650's! Once we get the 750 dialed in........ 😁🤞🏁
