1200 8V/ 1400 clutch disc AP vs NewFren
« on: March 08, 2024, 02:47:29 PM »
Greetings . getting ready to lift my  017 30k miles  Cali 1400 to access and remove the gearbox to have a looksee at the clutch assembly and replace ( at least) the disc as a matter of course. No abrupt jerky release or other functional issues present , in fact quite possibly the nicest Guzz acting i clutch yet  for me after saddle time on Loop, Tontis  and a number of Guzzi clutch replacements in my rearview mirror. Only issue is an occasional slip between 4/5k  rpm under hard accell. No changes in gearbox oil level,  or burnt gear oil as I have noticed in the past when the clutch rod seals leakage  and  or too high oil level  were causing the problem. The choice of clutch disc are the original ( AP) or a Newfren aftermarket replacement. Can anyone who has done a 1200 8V or 1400 clutch replacement share their experience or what they have used?

That's one significant job , especially considering it sounds like it's operating well !  Peter

Not 1400, but the Newfren discs for Loop and Tonti Guzzi have had issues with the rivets shearing. I'd go with the original.
