I just returned from visiting Wayne. he is doing OK considering. his left arm is wrapped up honestly I was so happy to see him sitting up I forgot to ask if it broken or not. his hip is split (his words). it is taped for now but they will have to repair it with a plate most likely tomorrow. he could go home as early as Tuesday.
The Dr.'s aren't telling him much about Vicki but she is much worse off. she is still unconscious and they haven't said anything other than some head trauma. But she is stable. her collar bone is broken and some ribs but the Dr.'s haven't given him any firm details so it is PRAY and wait. her daughter Amy and her sister from Ohio are with her so I didn't try to go in. I doubt they would have let me any way.
he remembers little from the accident however a police officer saw it. evidently some woman decided to do a U-turn right in front of them. certainly her fault but that does no good right now.
Amy brought him a tablet and her phone so he will have communication when he is ready. right now he needed rest so I came home. I will go to see him again sometime tomorrow and I am close so if there is something needed I will do my best to help him.
right now prayers are needed!

Many, many thanks, Steve!

We all make mistakes as riders, but Wayne is such a skilled, experienced, and extraordinary rider that I simply could not fathom how that would have happened and be "his fault."

Moreover, his oncoming Stelvio looks like a 777 with landing lights on, as Wayne has made it more than merely conspicuous. It is thus inconceivable to me that the driver did not see them if she was looking ahead.

But, as you say, that is, at least just now, irrelevant. Instead, we are all properly focused on healing those two.

Those of us at a distance and near can only hope that the outpouring here and elsewhere of sympathy, support, and affection is some comfort to Wayne, Vicky, Amy, and their whole family.

Maybe Daniel Kalal said it best with his, "we're all with you."

I was shocked to hear this. It seems like Wayne has always been one of the pillars of the forum.
Hoping Vicky's situation will improve, that should be a relief.

Shannon and I just got home from seeing Wayne at the hospital. He's scheduled to have surgery on his left wrist and right hip tomorrow morning. He may be released Tuesday or Wednesday. Vicky's status is still unknown, they're watching her for now, but not much to tell.

Wayne said that they were riding to Braselton, and a woman driving toward them made a sudden u-turn in the intersection in front of him. He said he ran into her car, nothing he could do. There was a Barrow County Deputy sitting at the light who saw the whole thing. He said they took the woman to jail...DUI Drugs! Bitch!!

Anyway, that's all there's is right now. I'm going to try to get some stuff off the bike tomorrow, and we'll be checking in on them all week.

I passed on the well wishes and prayer thoughts to Wayne already.

I'll keep you updated when I have more news.

It shouldn't. The crash was still her fault, and her insurance should cover it. Any half decent lawyer could win that case.

No matter what speed you're going, there's a "window" in which a car can whip a left turn in front of you and there's nothing that Superman and Chuck Norris together could do to react to avoid it ... Vicki is the one I'm worried about now .....
