So just curious.. is the service indication on the gauge cluster on the 2008 1200 Sport controlled or activated by the gauge cluster or the ECU of the machine?
Ciao

It's the "cluster".
It's a function of the dash software.
-
It might display on the dash but that's talking to the ECU via the CAN bus

Have you tried looking for errors with Guzzidiag? (that talks to the ECU via pin 16 of the Blue connector)

Which service sign is it? The wrench for oil change or the big SERVICE! across the dash?

Its the wrench symbol............ would be good to know if that icon is triggered by mileage recorded from the odometer or through the ECU.
I would have thought it would be through the ECU but??
Thx to all in advance.

That one is dash mileage, it is sort of it's own ecu. For some things anyway.
-
The wrench icon is triggered by milage, it will come on every 6,225 miles, or 10,000 kil. There is a code for you, home owner to reset it if it bothers you, me, I just leave it on, its small and I don't even see it anymore.

As I said, that's controlled by the dash/instruments. The ECU isn't involved in monitoring mileage.
