Anyone remember a thread here some years back about the guy who burned his house, garage, cars, and Guzzi due to gasoline vapor pooling low in the garage and then flashing over from I believe it was a gas heater?!?
No, but did it to my moms house in 1973. Half burned down. The CB-350 tank crossover tube, and gas water heater on the floor.. No real codes for having it lifted up in the air.. I watched the fumes catch fire, and engulf me, and my brothers Honda If you look at my shop post, there is not one rag laying around, and there is a reason for my madness.. PS-all rags/flammable papers/etc. end up in my Burn barrel before I shut things down ..Metal garbage can with a lid in the mean time..
Well this is an inspiring threadI have just sold the electric concrete mixer that lived in my garage for 10 years getting used about once every other year so now have a bunch of space liberated! In addition to the Easy Rizer lift I have I've been toying with building a lazy susan turntable as the 23 point turn on the gravel drive every time pretty much does for me!Anyone built a lazy susan turntable?
A simple kerosene heater turns my unheated garage into a heated garage. I just lighted the heater and in about a 1/2 hour it'll be sweatshirt temperature in an a hour or so t-shirt temperature.Craigslist + $50 = heated work space
BrandX,Was the cause/mechanism for your fire ever determined? Joe
Doesn't that create moisture issues? Varying temps, I mean.
Harbor Freight sells these to park bikes on.https://www.harborfreight.com/low-profile-motorcycle-dolly-95896.htmlLets you move them around in the garage easier, but for me not practical unless you have bikes you don't really ride much.
It was me.... The Honda's had a gas line from one side of the tank to the other that looped inside the frame.. Putting it on with gas in the tank will let it leak some gas.. If you don't get the line on fast enough it will drip gas on the floor.bike.. Having the pilot light on the water heater low to the ground allowed the fumes catch fire. The water heater was pretty new, and we just had gas ran to the house, a year or two earlier. Three things came together, and ended with quite a fire..One of Life's lessons that stuck with me too this day..
