NGC- Coming 10/1, "Flattracker for the Street"

I know some are following flat-track, and have expressed interest/disdain for the Indian FTR1200, so thought you might like this.

I'd love to have one, but I'd really love to have the time to enjoy it.

Indian has my attention. I’m not a “street tracker” guy, but Indian is doing some really cool things with their bikes and I could see myself on one someday.

The leaked images really killed my interest, looks like a chubby Ducati Scrambler

I predict sales in the hundreds , the street tracker thing has been done to death . Build a nice roadster with some range , reasonable ergos , a comfortable seat , then you'll have my attention. Like the fake flat track bike that HD built , everyone talked about how "it's the only Harley I would own", and then stayed away in droves

A bike like this will be the ultimate tool to have when leaving bike night at the local watering hole.  Leading the pursuing cops on a high speed chase while sliding sideways through corners and riding on one wheel while lane spitting.  Bikes are designed and marketed to project an image.   :boozing: :copcar: :thumb:

It'll sell. It's a modern hooligan bike, for young folks who grew up sneering at the crotch rocket crowd, and imagine themselves as slightly edgier.

Old enough to say I've done it, young enough to do it again.

I was in Santa Barbara last week, staying with family, which includes a guy with 40 years of track experience, on professionally tuned Ducatis. He's hung up his racing leather and sold his racing bikes, and he and his 35 year old son are shopping street bikes. Cost isn't a concern.  Point being these are educated, actual check writing (card-swiping?) consumers. The son is waiting for this bike. Only this.

( I won't tell you that I encouraged them to go rent a couple tuned Guzzi's from Todd   :violent1:)

I filled out the contest entry. Will offer free rides if I win.

I was seriously considering a Storz Sportster street tracker at one point. This could be very cool if they improve upon the XR1200X and don't overprice it. I test rode the XR and while nice, lost out to my Griso SE.

Scrambler/flat trackers are popular because they're today's UJM's.  I'd have a hard time choosing between a Ducati Monster and a Scrambler right now.  A Scrambler 1100 with a luggage rack would do most of what I want a motorcycle to do(except the tank is too small).  I don't think they're all being bought by hipsters.  I'm 49 and scrambler/flat track ergos are more comfortable than sportbikes or cruisers and that only gets more pronounced the older I get. The FTR1200 looks like a "standard" motorcycle with flat track/scrambler styling.

It would be fun in the Ozark hills near my house. I know where the gas stations are. The motor and drive train is sooooo sweet on those things. (the scout that is)

I'll take one, but with the 750 engine in street tune, and a four gallon tank.

Patent drawing shows a modular engine mounting setup for other engines..the 750 looks good but I don't know what practical advantage it would have on the street.

Besides a real FTR750 is only $50K, bet a used one may be cheaper. But not by much, they seem popular with the racers.

My thoughts exactly.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

I like cookies.

On Greg Bender's site concerning tires, he selected tires suited to "cruising and touring" because that's the kind of riding he does.

Isn't that what we all do?

“We wanted to make sure that the FTR 1200 wasn’t merely a regurgitation of the FTR1200 Custom, but something uniquely ‘street,’ albeit flat track inspired,”

The means it won't be anything like the FTR1200 custom (like the leaked photo). Too bad, really. I didn't expect those high pipes to make it into production, but the carbon fiber would have been nice.

The bits look right. Like they said about the V-rod: 'They will sell a lot of pipes'

I quite liked the prototype with its exhaust and its nimble design feel...

the actual bike looks like a pig to me...just like how the Ducati scrambler 1100 is...

The feel is all wrong...to me anyway... :violent1:

Again it's my personal opinion :P
