I owned a Cali 1100i same color scheme, purchased new at the now defunct Moto International. Racked up about 60k miles. Perhaps not much in the Guzzi world, but the bike was very reliable during the 5 years I owned it. Pyro Dans relays were swapped in for good measure, and they are still in use in my current ( 1994) Cali carb. As others have pointed out relays or a bad sensor signal could be the cause.
A small, but important bit to check out , is the MAP sensor vacuum hose, which can perish internally and suck shut, causing rough running and a code for flywheel sensor. It is hidden on left side of bike going into the airbox and not too visible. Moto America signed off on a new ECU for my bike when my local dealer was not able to locate a sporadic cutting out problem. The new ECU seemed to have better drivability than the original, but did not solve the problem, which I found by accident while replacing a battery.
