Will a Bassa Tank fit a Jackal?
« on: March 06, 2015, 05:21:45 PM »
Now that I've managed to get my fiberglass Jackal side covers primed and wet-sanded, I'm feeling really cocky. I'm thinking of buying a tank so I can practice painting. Can anyone tell me whether a Bassa tank will fit a Jackal? For that matter, are there other tanks that will fit?

As might be expected, Ebay prices are all over the map. From a surprisingly almost-reasonably 80 bucks to insane and moronic three-digit prices which are much more like what I expected.

I believe as long as it's a tank from another external fuel pump Cali it should be plug and play.

Thanks. I think this will be fun, but I don't want to screw up the stock tank.

If it's a P8 tank it might have reduced fuel capacity compared to the jackal.  I'm not sure.

I am trying to figure out what P8 means. Is that the fuel injection system? I found a book on Google which says the California 1100s had a P8 system.

It should still work. The 98 EV was a P8 bike and the tank had the same fuel fitting as my '01 with the later computer. If I'm not mistaken the Jackal as well as the Bassa were all the later version.

It will bolt up and the spigots will fit.  I think I read somewhere that the tunnel size is different.  I don't remember where I read it or which tank had the advantage.

It will, If you need a tank I have  an EV tank,  A bassa tank. I also have a larger capacity Cal III tank that I was going to weld the spigots from another on to have a larger capacity on my EV. Never did it. Probably won't!
