my favorite time of year and riding season is over
« on: October 20, 2015, 10:08:30 PM »
i always like the fall, weathers cooler, the bikes run great, i had planned on getting some serious riding in now that the travel trailer has been winterized, but today i find out that the trip over the fuel line in a gas station on 9/18 requires immediate surgery on my right foot to avoid permanent damage. 8 weeks non weight bearing starting tomorrow. hopefully it will be a mild winter and i can get out after Christmas. it could always be worse.

I agree this is good riding weather but I'm laid up from a surgery too.  I made it about 6 miles and the pain was to bad had to turn around and head back home for the pain pills.  Sucks getting old.

Jim,

Best of healing on your foot injury.  I will take the V7R out this morning, if it does not rain and wind her up in your honor.

I feel for you guys, as this is, indeed, MC riding prime time: many of the slow-riding sleds are now getting off the roads and being parked for the winter, leaving the best twisty roads around here clear for riding enjoyment.

Maybe we need a "pains and strains thread"!!

I just had my right shoulder surgery and go in to get my left shoulder done on Nov 4th.

I'm going to have to sell the farm...I can't keep up with it anymore.

I should be back riding sometime in Jan.

I live in Texas so I can ride quite a bit all winter long.

Better to be known as someone who "sold the farm" than being remembered as someone who "bought the farm," I suppose.

Fall is perhaps the best riding season, but here in CT I ride all year round, road conditions permitting. I actually prefer mild winter riding to high summer heat.

Well I hope all you guys heal up but I don't understand the concern.  What's a riding season?

I was rolling along the highway on my mobility scooter when I saw a seed on the side of the road.  I picked it up and took it home
after I had my coffee in greater down town metropolitan Hawi.  I put it in a 15 gallon bucket of water to soak for a few days, after which I will put it in a slightly smaller bucket of potty soil.  It will probably take a few months to germinate but what else have I got to do?  When it gets a green flag out the end I will put it in the ground and see if it grows.  I am hoping it is a dwarf.  A Samoan dwarf.
If so it will match the other two that I planted 3 & 1/2 years ago that now reach about 20 feet high and about 20 feet across each.
Anytime after about 2 more years I can expect the original 2 to begin producing seeds.  Seeds on a dwarf are about a foot wide and a little more long and weigh about ten pounds each when green.  Only time will tell but the price was right.
