Saw The Who at Nassau Coliseum last night. Didn't catch this guy's name but he played some keyboard and was introduced as the band's musical director.

Nassau Coliseum?

Is there one in VT too or where you on LI?

My first concert was at Nassau Coliseum on LI when I was in high school (not The Who).

Definitely the one, the only one, on the island. I believe the last time I'd been there was to watch Dr. J in the late '70s.

Savoy Brown, Jethro Tull, Led Zepplin (with multiple encores) at the Electric Playground (club) in Chicago. Now THAT was a 'concert'...

Roger Daltrey was on Howard Stern for about an hour & a half long interview that morning. I'm not a big Who fan but it was really very good.

Funny he almost ended the show because of weed smoke drifting on stage? Also this article has the Guzzisti musical director's name

Virginia, fall of 1972. Back to back concerts at the men's college I attended on the big Homecoming weekend.

First night, Chuck Berry. EXPLODES onto the stage and goes wide open until about midnight, doing all his best stuff with amazing energy.

Second night, the boys are still stoked from Chuck Berry. Now on stage floats John Denver, all laid back and starts with some slow ballad like Rocky Mountain High, and pretty soon they're throwing cups onto the stage and hollering for Chuck, and John Denver gets up and leaves .... Tough crowd!

It had 3 names. Maybe Kenitic Playground was first Electric Theater was another and Electric playground was Another. I think. (It's hard to remember the 60's, let alone a particular point in time. I wasn't into time back then...)

I saw them do Quadrophenia in I think 1995. As I recall it was billed as the last Who tour. I think they've done 5 or 6 since. I'm not a big fan of stadium concerts but this one (at the San Jose Sharks Arena) was pretty good. Sound for the opening act (can't recall who it was) really sucked but was much better for The Who. Pete played Acoustic with his brother Simon doing the lead work and Zak Starkey did a pretty damn good Keith Moon imitation and that is not easy as Moon's style was so unique. Entwhistle was still alive then and played as crazy fast as ever. There were also a few guest appearances like Billy Idol as the Bellboy. When they finished Quadrophenia, Pete pulled out his red strat and they played a half dozen classic who songs before calling it a night. I am sure it wouldn't compare to seeing them in the early 70's but all in all a great show.

Pete just turned 70 a couple of days ago so I don't figure there are going to be that many more chances to see them.

The last time I saw The Who was in 1969 right after Woodstock and they did most of the Tommy album along with the explosive ending. I had expected this crowd to be made up of a mostly older audience but I was completely wrong.

I wasn't a real Who fan, but then Daltry played a character named Hugh Fitzcairn on the TV show Highlander a few times and won me over with his personality. Then I realized just what a voice he had.

1966 - Philadelphia Civic Centre. The Who opened for Herman's Hermits. My GF wanted to see HH, I was stoked for the Who. They did not disappoint. Smashed everything on stage. it took an hour to get the stage set for HH. I was ready to leave. :)

That was the show. Yeah, it wasn't exactly Daltry's most Rock & Roll moment. I had a pretty good view of seats near the stage from where I was sitting and could not see one lit cigarette or joint; nothing like the days of giant clouds in the arena. I understand that some people are sensitive but one joint somewhere in a crowd of 15,000 bothered him? Maybe, I don't know. Pete was backing him up, trying to lighten things up a little, but I think he was a little embarrassed about the whole thing.
