"You probably heard them ...."
« on: May 21, 2015, 08:15:21 PM »
News Item from Lynchburg, Virginia today ...

Campbell Co., VA-  If you were out on Route 460 today-you probably heard them.

Hundreds of thousands of motorcycles are making their way across the country for the annual "Run For the Wall" ride.

On Saturday, they'll end their run in D.C. at the Vietnam Memorial Wall, along with some 900,000 other bikers.

Thursday, some of those riders stopped at the Harley-Davidson Dealership in Campbell County....

AGGGHHHH!   WHY do we have to HEAR them from a long way off?   I could hear them and I live 4 miles from the highway .... If it has "Thunder", "Roaring", or "Rumble" in it's name, I'm going the other way .... !

Rolling Thunder.

I was in Limon Colorado this week in 2003, and it was a non-stop thunderous parade eastbound on I-70.

I don't live near and East/West interstate, so don't get to "enjoy" the week-long rumble...

We have toll booths out here or as they call them now, "pay gates". They also picked this weekend to close one of two feeder roads from SF to the Golden Gate so little chance of them getting through.

We do have a custom one step two step engine shop in town so every once in a while...

You mean you won't be at the Bull City Rumble on Labor Day weekend?  It's just about all old Japanese and European motorcycles.

I forgot about THAT kind of "Rumble", derived from "Mods and Rockers" days in the UK .... But that's not a noisy one, and besides, the last time I went as a Rocker, and put clip-ons on my A10 and turned white socks down over the top of my boots, I was the only one who did ... the Mods did a good job with their scooters, some of them actually had neckties ... !
