I have friends that keep steering me toward a BMW 1250 GS or GSA. Heck, they even make a "low" model now - for us guys with short legs. Still, I'm hesitant to let go of the $$$. There's a lot of electronics on the new ones, but I think I'd just as well have an old air head.Besides, I have this liter VSTROM. It says "Adventure", right on the side.
The V85TT is my sport touring bike. But, a sport touring bike that I don't mind taking down a dirt road or doing a water crossing on.
It’s a strange thing for me.I’ve had so long with my Norge and now know it so well, the V100 would feel like an attractive flighty stranger that I’d been enticed by. The promise of “good times” to an ageing old biker by a young prospect, when my current long term partner has stayed the course and looked after me when I knew I was at the limit of what I should be doing, is an elixir that many old men before me have taken.I don’t want to find out the truth of how much “better” the Mandello is, because the sun will then begin to set on my relationship with my Norge and I want to prevent that. There is something (for me) that can only happen after 16 years and 209,000 km and I won’t live long enough on bikes to arrive at that point on a Mandello, so in a very real sense I will be pursuing something that time will not allow me to achieve and I’ll be looking at my Norge on her centrestand over in the corner saying to me…“What did I do wrong…” ?The answer is simple…Nothing. There are many guys who look at heir partners and decry the lines on the lines on their face or the changing silhouette and want to look elsewhere, often to bolster their own fading sense of self worth and inner confidence, when all it does is highlight their deficiencies. It’s the lines on her face and the familiar curves that bind me to my Norge and for that reason and the more esoteric ones above, that lead me to the conclusion…?No, I don’t “want” another bike.
Deep thoughts indeed. Are you sure you are talking about a motorcycle? As a guy in a bar once told me, "What's the difference between your wife and a motorcycle? A motorcycle doesn't divorce you if you hop on another..."
Agreed. The newish H-D's really look made to a price. Simply not attractive like they used to be, IMHO.
Buying a new bike? No.... Thinking about it?All the time...(*SIGH*)
I want a scooter.
My problem is like a hockey team with a salary cap. I need to remove one to add a different one.
