My after-market centerstand by Stucchi was too tall, and a bear to lift the bike. I cut 1" off the legs, made new "feet" from 1/8" strap iron, and had a friend weld them back on. The new stand still gives me 1/2" clearance for the back tire, and it's no problem to lift. A huge improvement that I should have done years ago.
I see why Stucchi made the orig. stand so tall; when shortened it fouls on the sidestand. They simply nestle together, touching, without hanging free and clear as originally intended. This is no problem, but just an fyi. And the shortened stand is
such a pleasure.

P.S. a tip: jam quarters into the stand spring when removing it, to keep it extend for an easy reassembly.
