Longview is WAY north of here...practically all the way to Lindale...was hoping for a slightly more southern route!!  Just was nearby in Marshall a couple weekends ago!

Looks like Hwy 12 and 190 may be the better options than I-10!

Dave...do you van it out, or do you ride the V7?  Have you found any interesting back road routes to get out there...I don't fancy a 220 mile slab run after seeing it just recently driving out to pick up the Scura.  Other than the run across Atchafalaya, not much else scenic on I-10 to see headed out there.

Thanks!

Haven't decided mode.
I10 to Winnie.
73 from Winnie to Port Arthur
82 to Holly Beach
Cross ferry in Cameron.
Follow coast.
82 eventually turns North
Then you can make your way back to I10 or weave you way through South LA. toward Abbeville just South of Lafayette.
Ride this before it's gone.  Coast road is eroding.  South LA is magical!

That looks like an interesting route...so where 27 and 82 meet near Cameron and Holly Beach, that looks like a short ferry also, sort of like the Lynchburg one?  That southern route looks very good!

Use to go.  Easier to detour if Cameron Ferry is down.
Call for Ferry Status in Port A.

Hey Paul, Dave's coastal route is the most beautiful but it takes most of a day to ride across from Houston.  But well worth it.  Last year I rode LA. hwy 14, you pick it up S. of Lake Charles, it goes through Lake Arthur and ends in New Iberia.  I recommend it.  I also cut through the Big Thicket some times - route is Dayton, Rye, Thicket, Honey Island, Hillster, Spurger, Jasper.  Good roads that way.  Kind of flattens out once you cross the Sabine.  All good alternatives to I10.

I'm thinking about joining you folks at the rally.  Coming in from indiana.  Wouldn't mind connecting with other riders for portions of the trip.  Route TBD.

I'm not sure that I will be going  but:  if anyone needs a place to stay Thursday night.   I'm located in northeast Louisiana. (About 70 miles west of Jackson, MS on I-20)   From here it is about a 4-5 hour ride to the rally site. Have extra bedrooms, large garage with tools, beer, etc. Cell 3186693515 to let me know.
Jack

BTW - weather forecast - Perfect!

Alright I want to come to swamp scooter. But I can't ride to it And I got my wife and she is not into tent's.  So a good reasonable priced motel close to the rally?  I'm ready for good fellowship & and food, may be a few cool ones.Rudy

Rudy,
Glad to hear that your wife is well enough to travel.  Looking forward to meeting her.

Can't help with hotel reccommendations.  Check Tripadvisor website.
Selection seems sparse in Carencro.  I'll call one of the Lousiana bunch today and see if they have reccommendations.

Will be good to see yall.  Just bought a bottle of Jamison ' s Black.

At SS now with a few early birds.
See ya at Guzzi Gulch.  If you tent camping, do not go to park office, take a right on St Claire and continue till you see the SS sign then left on the gravel road.  Another left at the pond Guzzita usually gather in that area.

The attendance and experience were on par with any I have been to in the past. Great Gumbo cook off and the tally for attendance was around 250.

There were a few Guzzi folk on hand. Charlie and Mac from NY, Handy Andy and Mary. Kind of sparse without Steve Ford and crew from Seattle. There was still a good local turnout from the usual suspects. I think RK's trike may have got us into double digits.

Met up with Jack and Pat for the ride in:
