I'll add one.  It might be the only U.S. highway that most Europeans can identify.  Name the pass I am standing on (and for good measure, name those mountains in the distance).

I had to Google that one.  I've got to say, I've never seen the movie (although you can't help but be aware of it).  I've stayed at the Blue Swallow motel in Tucumcari a couple of times, and you'd think they believe the whole world has seen that movie!

Deke , Cars is one of my favorite movies . Strange how an animated flick actually got every exhaust note correct . The Hudson Hornet sounded like the real thing , as did the Porsche, NASCAR racer , Towmater , the tractors , even the Ferrari . Michael Wallis was a consultant on the movie , and voiced a character . He told some of us that the little town was as much based on Afton OK as the village of (redacted) . You get the connection

Ok...I'll hazard a guess.  Route 66 is the highway

Guessing this is somewhere in Arizona or New Mexico...trying to narrow down where...

Here's the view in the other direction, which might help.  I had stopped to help out the man and his model-A (go figure).  Yes; of course it's route 66!  I'm still waiting for the name of the pass and mountain (which is an especially good one).

The old Oatman-Topock highway was an early section of 66 to be re-routed to something more sensible--it wasn't part of route-66 for very long.  That means this route over Sitgreaves Pass is pretty much still the way it was in the beginning and remains one of the more challenging roads you'll find in the United States.  This isn't a sweeping road; many of the turns are posted to 15mph and the remains of wrecks you'll see over the side are a good indication that you might want to pay attention.  Back in the days of that model-A, the road wouldn't have been paved.  Evidently, some folks were so alarmed by the road that they paid local drivers to drive their car over the pass.

No question; if you're riding the area, take this road and don't bother with the Interstate between Kingman,  Arizona and Needles, California--this is much better.

Route 66 gets all the print, but the Lincoln Highway predates it by many years and ran coast-to-coast.  On top of that, the Lincoln was largely built from scratch while 66 mostly linked existing roads together with signs.

Name the location and the person for whom this mountain pass of the Lincoln Highway is named (two different names are both correct):

the original road...

...and nearby that same place (there's still no room to park in the narrow section)

Never been there myself (LOL).

At Mutianyu, we also saw some Chinese CJ-750's (BMW R71 / Russian Ural copies), with sidecars on tour!!
Lots of ex-pats who live and work around Beijing have these!  Cool beans!!

Two views of the same spot.

Where?

And why is it important to Guzzi?

First pic is the couple Kevin & Karen Browne who ride a Guzzi around the world...presume that's somewhere in the Bay Area - Baylands perhaps?

2nd one...I presume that's not Derek Mansfield...looks a little too scruffy with the 'stache.

Yes, the Brownes went (mostly) around the world on a highly modified SP.
Second lad is Bruce from British Columbia.

But, the question is WHERE and WHY important to Guzzi.

The where:  The western most point of the lower 48 states?

The why:  Still mulling over that one...

Hint #2: The name makes you think 'Hawaii'.
