Title: Jackal Windshield Options
Post by: Kevin M on April 27, 2021, 10:47:44 PM
I’m wondering what options are available for a windshield for a Jackal. I want something bigger than the sport shield. Will the same bigger barn door that fits the EV work for the Jackal? How about the Cal III  shields? Thanks for any help.

I use a National Cycle shield (I think Plexistar 2) with a laminar lip. Great for higher speeds and easliy removable if required.

Good spot! Hose clamp and a hex key, you can never be too careful

I have one and really had problems with buffeting.  Does that laminar lip help?

I keep mine as tall as possible so that the headlight gap is instrument level high.  Also have it laid back as far as possible.   It helps buy it's far from good.

If it were up to me I'd get a Plexifairing 3.  I had one until it was broken by a mechanic.  Since they no longer show a fit for the Guzzi, someone posted that the Honda Shadow 750 model would fit the the California.   I think I'd start there even if I had to take a hair dryer and hacksaw if I had to do it over again.

This is the best shield I've used.  Very little head buffeting..... taller the windshield the less head shake you'll have.

Harpers have them.

Yes, the barn door off the EV's mounts on the Jackal, as does the larger more streamlined shield they sold as an accessory. They called that the California Sport Touring Shield. Made by National Cycle with specific mounts for the Cali series. Difficult to come by, but if you did, I would take that over the barn door. In any case, they both mount using the holes in the outside of the triple trees.

I don't know about the Cal III stuff.

Have one in the shed, it's a great shield. Last one Ned's ever received. He once told me at a rally that he could have sold a lot more but could never get one again.

Interesting.
I thought I was the only person who shelled out for the second front disc.

I opted for the MG adjustable sport shield, which uses two uprights bolted to the outside of the triple clamps. These have curved slots cut in them, which let you select the angle of the shield from upright to tilted back.

Jim,

Does that mean you are willing to part with it?
