Title: A big thanks to the moderators
Post by: andrewdonald1 on May 28, 2015, 12:48:12 PM
I saw something yesterday that the site is attacked 1000 times per day.
I just wanted to stop for a moment and say thanks to the moderators for what you do.
I suspect this isn't a career for you all, more a hobby which means I suspect time out of your personal lives.
So I am grateful for what you do, and I thought it appropriate to stop and acknowledge this.

Andrew.

Good sentiment and a  :+1.   And remember it HAS to be a hobby.   If they were making money from it, they'd be in the same boat as Frank Wedge - getting slapped by red suspenders every day for exploiting the toiling masses to support his Wall Street suite .....  :D

Wow, Frank has a place on Wall St.....cool. I use a plumbing contractor who has an office on Wall St., I wonder if they know each other?

Thanks guys, and for all of you who have not kicked the site of few bucks, now is the time.

I can't remember, could have been Wall Street, maybe Beverly Hills, perhaps The Hamptons; the people who are tracking his massive positive cash flow aren't very clear about it ....

It's just a warning that we have to be careful.   Between "dues", "donations", "fr*******ers", and income vs. list costs, the nickel-crushing tendencies of many Guzzisti make it a dangerous road to walk.

Or maybe I'm just a naturally happy guy.

Rumor has it that Frank is kicking you back some bucks for shilling his vast enterprise on WG. I figured it was true when you posted pictures of your Norton.

Busted.   I settled for 0.5% of his EBITDA, plus an additional 0.01% of each new Life Member annually, and bought that Norton with only 7 months proceeds ...

MGNOC Life Membership, eh, you like?  Is good, just like SONY, only one left, you buy now, give discount for US dollars ....

Good thread.   Thanks moderators for your largely thankless efforts.   This is an extremely useful and friendly board, and I for one am happy it exists and stays in good condition.

That Wall Street gig , hell no that would mean I'd have to go back to work.

You're all welcome.  We're still not totally out of the woods yet.  Still doing a LOT of maintenance on it.  We really need to upgrade to a better version of SMF, but to do so would mean all the mods we have will have to be reinstalled.  Thus, all the data would be lost (classifieds, paid advertisements, gallery, etc).

Upgrading would really be the last resort.  Hopefully spending all this time modifying and optimizing will be enough to get us back up to normal.

It's been a long week....

Thanks, it can be a soul destroying task.  **C

Pity you can't archive the data and repopulate the upgrade (I know IT is never that simple).
