Loss of focus

This is why I don’t use cellphone for navigation. With my age and disease related decreasing ability to focus on the task at hand, riding is a good way to keep as sharp as possible

Good explanation. Long video, who takes time to watch a 20 + minute video. Watched first 8 min to the first add break than attention to 70 sunny weather outside beckoned. Rather listen to and watch birds outside than finish video. But I did get his point,,, it’s not my fault.. electronic media and commercialism is driving my ADD. Squirrel!

The phone is a work tool for me, and the last thing I want to see on a weekend ride.

My cell phone doesn't have a data plan. CAN'T use it for navigation! Hurray for me being a dinosaur! ;-)
yeah, I might be addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop any time I want.

Well, actually you can.  Unless your cell phone is a dinosaur.  I have a no plan phone, load up maps at home (using the wifi), and navigation works, route to gas stations, restaurants, hotels, from the middle of no where with no cell reception.

You don't need a data plan. No monthly charge. Get an old phone, load the maps, use it. You will need WiFi temporarily to load it. Well, actually, there are even ways around that.

I guess I just don't care enough about that to bother. Paper maps in my tank bag are all I want.

If you carry a phone, why not use it for navigation, once you pull over...I do use maps but the up to date info on the phone is valuable in avoiding traffic tie ups...
Some of you brag about not using phones,of couse that means you ride and drive vehicles without any electronics and you don't use  any device to access the internet...
