I watched two Britten's racing in Timaru NZ, with John Britten laptop in hand working on one between racing.

That's where my love of V Twins came from nice guys to talk to, Andrew Stroud always put on a great show great wheelies and a great rider. ;-T

Recently saw a rebuild of a yellow/black Britten being gone thru for a more current road race on another website.  That sight said the Britten @ Daytona got up to 180 mph.  8)  The sound for this race suggested it was in California. No way.  It was somewhere overseas.  Read only 10 Britten MCs were ever built due to Jon Britten's pre-mature death from skin cancer.  :'(

I saw the Britten at Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum last fall, and it was great fun to get to study the bike up close. What an amazing piece of work!

Hear tell that in Feb this year they will have assembled at the Ruapuna Racetrack all of the 10 Brittens built! :drool :drool :drool

The sound of the #1 bike before they were made to put a noise moderator on was something to be believed. The ground literally vibrated (along with the ear drums)  ;D ;D

I think he wheelied the full straight after the horseshoe every lap.

I saw one ridden in anger at Daytona in the '90's. It's even better looking in person. I was sitting on the bleachers at the end of that straight after the International Horseshoe where it enters the dog leg and every time that thing went by.....just wow. I'm not sure which one of the 10 built it was but it was one of the blue and pink ones. And the sound.....f*ck me it was awesome. I was able to walk around it and kneel next to it in the pits and see all the trick bits and innovations, just an awesome piece of machinery. I have some photos around here somewhere that I took of it in the pits and on the track.

This one is the one at Barber. The number on it is 82 and the name 'C. Huneycutt' is on the fairing.

You could get close enough to touch it, but they discouraged that.

That was cool! I wish they had the sound of the bikes, instead of that "porno music" during the race.
Rick.

The track os called "The Race" by Yellow.

Not only does the Raceco Daytona get the holeshot but Lewis power wheelies down the start/finish straight.   :bow
