Incredibly cool. Too bad the sound is missing.I noticed the Guzzi is quite wobbly at braking and accellerating. wonder what went wrong with the Guzzi. brilliant start by Lewis BTW.
BTW... last year I treated myself to one of the Britten models from there web page that I've lusted over for years. Now I need to someday assemble it. I new that that would be about the closest I will ever come to owning one. :bow
I watched Paul Lewis race that bike in torrential rain at Thruxton- he is a very talented rider- shame there is not more footage on You Tube of him riding the wheels off that Guzzi, which incidentally is now road registered somewhere in Scotland. Raceco managed to get the weight down to about 160kgs in race trim.I am lucky enough to own a similar 1225cc Daytona with the same frame mods- wish I had the same riding talent at Paul Lewis!
Sorry, but I didn't see the Guzzi anywhere in this clip. However I did see two fine Kiwi racers riding Kiwi-made bikes and virtually lapping the field. Sure made my night. We're soon going to have the opportunity to see these same two Brittens race over Feb at a series of classic bike meets at the Pukekohe, Hampton Downs, and Ruapuna circuits. It's a great way to celebrate the 20 years that have passed since that clip, and John Britten's untimely death etc. Meanwhile here's a thumbs-up to Stroudy, and wife Karen. With the help of the latter, he has produced more offspring than he's won New Zealand Superbike championships (9 times at last count), and considers them as his greatest achievements. To whet appetites further about the coming Britten celebrations, watch this:http://vimeo.com/115385119
I couldn't see any heads peeking out the sides.
So what happened to Lewis and the Guzzi....? Did he break and that was just a coast around the track while waving at the crowd...? ???Good footage all the same, that Britten pulling the wheel off the deck all the time...!
