I can appreciate the desire to create something original and unique, so if it happens to be expressed through a motorcycle all the better. My only concern is the many half finished 'projects' I see advertised and the questionable integrity of the 'build'. Some of the rigid framed, bobbed, hybrid front ends etc... may be down right death traps.
Let's not be hasty in condemning this show. The cast of Orange County Choppers will challenge the newbies to a build-off. Stay tuned...Ralph
The bikes above are all beautiful, but the next big u-tube craze will be restoring all the crappy rat bikes, bobbers and screwed up cafe racers back to stock!
You know, I think the aero engine thing should be on the show!
Last night they bobbed a perfectly fine Goldstar. I was in disbelief
I once had a coworker who used to say, "Anybody can restore one. It takes a real man to cut one up." ;D
What I found amusing (shocking?) was the claim that the original Gold Star was worth $30,000 to begin with, and the final product was valued at $50,000! Does that mean the owner paid the guy $20,000 to hack up his classic and turn it into a SteamPunk Bobber POS? My guess is that the bike is now worth $10,000 on EBay at best. What will he have to pay the guy to re-restore it?
Kinda like all of the bobbers on CL built from Honda 600 CC Shadows . Remove a few parts , paint everything some Hot Rod color , and viola , transform an $800 motorbike into a $3K motorbike ??? Dusty
Dusty... don't bring the viola's into the fight. They already have enough pain in their lives. :P ;D
