 ;-T nice bike ( to me )  :)
I really like the gas tank i am getting tired of seeing v7 sport/850 le mans replica gas tank all over the places, that gas tank also hold a lot of gas.... which is good .
and i do not like the 16 inches wheels ( front and back ) but thats an easy fix.

asking price is not bad either ..

I paid $2600 for mine 6 yrs ago, same color, same miles, same condition (maybe better since it had aftermarket shocks, progressive front springs and documented maint history).  It is not unmolested any more :)

Other than availability of tires I love the 16" wheels.  If you want sticky just put Sport Demons on them.

PS it needs to hold a lot of gas, at 35-40mpg  :)

That is the first one I have seen in a very long time. Except for the tires and fairing it is a precursor to the Mille.

Roughly 20 miles from my house.  Best to just walk away as I don't have the $ anyways.

I hear that. 80 miles for me, and sharing it here is my way of reducing the anxiety....

I thought the T-5 had an 18" rear and 16" front?

Nothing wrong with 16" rims IMHO, especially if you aren't tall.   Some T-5s had 16" rims, some didn't.  Now if you gotta have more speed, this bike is not for you.   :D  Surprised why it would only get 40 mpg.  ???

I *like* 16" wheels except for being pretty limited on tires. I truly can't remember seeing a T5, period. But, then.. I don't remember much any more.  ;D

Don't think very many T-5s were sold in the US.  Seen a few.  They have the longer swingarm which is beneficial for handling.  ;-T

Yep, that's what they are on mine.  :)

Wayne, you've seen mine :D  Just didn't look like that one.

If you like that style tank then look at the Mille GT, SPIII, I think the Spada.  Several models in that era had that tank.  5.7gal

Mine has been modified more since this one.  The seat is a Rich Maund job.

FWIW, the T5 bikini fairing is kinda horrible both in function and to look at.

The SPIII fairing is basically the same as the police T5 fairing used in Europe....but....th e US T5's (at least mine) do not have the mounting points on the frame.  Not hard to add with a welder, just something to keep in mind.

If you want a better, small fairing, the LMII version works well (it is also a square headlight).  I had one on mine for a while but decided to get the SPIII version, which is perfect for me.

The Mille is more of a naked bike and has the round headlight.

Me, if I had a choice, I'd just find an SPIII.  Bigger motor, more common tire sizes and the fairing is already there.  If you want naked then a Mille.

Or better yet, the Strada with the medium valve engine and 36 mm pumpers.  ;)

Especially considering the Mille gets well over 50 MPG consistently.

Stradas are about as rare as T-5s in the US too.   SP IIIs are a Strada w/luggage, full fairing and there are more of them in the US.  ;)

Thanks

Don't really know why it gets less gas mileage but factory brochure say 36mpg.  I felt good getting more than that.  According to the speedo I get 50mpg  :D

The Mille has the smaller valves & carbs like the earlier SPs and CX100.  I got 50-55 mpg on my `81 CX.  Sometimes even more.

Since the T-5s are 850cc there's no reason they need bigger carbs or valves.  BTW, the smaller valves don't wear out their valve guides like the bigger valves do.  ;-T

I never noticed that.  My beater T3 sucked it up to about 7200 and then flatlined like the valves were floating.  I mean -- you sort of propelled your way to that point and when the curve went flat, you bopped your chin on the handlebar clamp cuz you were hunched over so far trying to beat your own best time through the cloverleaf.

I used to have an SP1000 that I ran in the California canyons. I tried to keep it running from 5-7K. I would think that if it wouldn't run over 5 that there is a timing advance issue.

Actually only 105 cc - 844 vs. 949.

There's another T5 on DC Craigslist: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/mcy/4880149096.html

If these were anywhere near me, I'd be really tempted to buy one.   Why are these prices so low?  It can't only be the 16-inch wheels, and limited tire choices.
