What I like about my Guzzi....
« on: March 16, 2015, 03:15:11 PM »
1.  Stability - Even for a heavy bike, it's very easy to maneuver.

2.  Riding position - Perfect for my body.  The buckhorn bars and footrests are in just the right position.

3.  Sound - Very subtle, doesn't set off car alarms or piss off the neighbors, but has a deep throaty rumble.  Wouldn't change the exhaust system.

4.  Fuel warning light - It's accurate and reliable.

5.  Low RPM torque.  Taking off up a hill doesn't bog the engine a bit.

6.  Look - White with lots of chrome - Get comments at gas stations.

It's an '02 EV11.

1. Decent performance and light weight.

2. People, including me, think it is cool.

Today I started it for the first time since late October.  It cranked for about 2 sec and fired up.  I call that a good bike.

Throttle response/tractability is great throughout the gears. 1st gear is as fun as 3rd.

Feels light when riding, but I wouldn't want to push it very far.

It's a big Thug of a bike.

1.  Stability - Even for a heavy bike, it's very easy to maneuver.  Only when the engine is running.

2.  Riding position - Perfect for my body.  The rearsets, clip-ons and seat are where I need them.

3.  Sound - Not very subtle.  Sets off car alarms but doesn't piss off the neighbors, it's a velvet timpani.  I've changed the exhaust system.

4.  Fuel warning light - Doesn't have one.  When it gags it's time to switch to reserve.

5.  Low RPM torque.  Taking off up a hill doesn't bog the engine a bit.  In second.

6.  Look - Red, black and grey.  Gets sideways glances at gas stations.

It's an '86 LeMans IV.

I like that my Guzzi just gets better with age and doesn't scrape the undercarriage in turns.

The sound.  The stock mufflers produce just the right amount of noise without being offensive.

UJM riders treat it like its slow... they are correct, it is slower than big UJM machines
BMW riders dont even bother noticing it .... they are only impressed with bikes that are more expensive than what they are on.
HD riders try to pass you no matter what illegal speed you are at... typical HD rider behaviour
Triumph riders give you a wave ... they know what it is like riding a 'unique to rest of you' machine.
Riders on vintage bikes give you a good long look... they appreciate the beauty of form vs function.

After owning bike's for close on 40 years - from 1956 BSA to Honda's, BMW, Kwaka 1100 to Suzuki 1000 I now own and ride a bike I
feel more satisfaction each day I ride it and less disappointment when it has a fault to be fixed than ANY of the previous bike's.
Keep in mind some of my earlier bikes were off the dealer's floor new.

2012 Norge 8v or Black Italian Beauty.
How do you know you are on a great bike? When caught in slow moving traffic you squeeze your knees together and a grin lights up your dial.

Low end pull on a Sport Touring bike with an upright riding position that allows a short legged person to touch the ground at a stoplight.

I like my Stelvio - that's why I bought it. After about 14 k of 300 mile or less days, I did a 900 mile day.

That's when I fell in love with it. I rode it up to the Canadian border and it gave me the impression it would just keep charging right up Niagara Falls if I asked it to.

I've had the bike for almost 3 years and I like it better now than when I got it.
