Doesn't the free Guzzidiag software work on the Cali 1400 now?

That said, I BET you never reset the TPS unless it's been remapped or the throttle body has been replaced (like the 1TB V7).

I mean, there's only a single throttle body, nothing to adjust or synchronize there...

I too would like to know what options are available for the 1400, including diagnostic abilities. I tried hooking her up to our Range Rover interface and for some strange reason she did not want to communicate! Is the Guzzi factory tool available? Thanks for any and all advice.

Guzzidiag does read a lot of parameters. and can even do some throttle reset and learning. And is free, only 20$ cables.

I noticed that both of my first and second services have specified reset tps on the invoices. I don't know why other than maybe it is routine after valve lash adjustment.

It's a bit difficult to reset the TPS on a California 1400 when it doesn't have one!  I'd be asking for a refund on work not done.

That's not entirely accurate.

It's still got a Throttle Potentiometer and it DOES need to relearn throttle position (though NOT after a valve adjustment):

A couple of relevant excerpts from the service manual.

It's not the same as what we've come to think of a TPS on say a CARC bike, but there are some throttle position circuits that to be considered.

Quote
NEW CONTROL UNIT ACTIVATION PROCEDURE and REPROGRAMMING
After installing the control unit for the first time, or after REPROGRAMMING the control unit with a
different or more updated mapping, turn the key to ON and wait 3 seconds; during this time the control
unit carries out throttle position acquisition. Connect to diagnosis instrument and check that the statuses
"Front throttle automatic self-learning" and "Rear throttle automatic self-learning" are "Carried out" and
"Handle self-learning" is "Not carried out" (this last status entails Urgent service being displayed on the
instrument panel). If front and rear throttle automatic self-acquisition indicate "Not carried out" go to
phase 1, if indicate "Carried out" go to phase 2. Phase 1: current errors have probably been detected
by the control unit: solve these malfunctions and check the two statuses. Throttle Self-learning can also
be checked from the Parameter adjustment (screwdriver and hammer) screen page. Stage 2: Carry out
the Handle Self-learning from the Parameter adjustment (screwdriver and hammer) screen page and
check that Handle Self-learning status is Carried out. If not OK the voltage detected on the throttle is
out of scale (check with diagnosis instrument) or current errors have been probably detected by the
control unit: solve these malfunctions and repeat the procedure

I suppose connecting the bike to PADS, checking if there are errors, if it needs map update and so on are standard procedures with service. Are those all seperate specified on the bill?
Reset TPS costs one second when bike is connected.
