It's Texas USA.  Give the guy a shot.  Bad wrist and a bike that just like tying up his other arm.

Kevin is back in the fold and The COTA Ambassador now.

I think he's going to do some demo laps on his Suzuki 500 GP bike.

Rossi was only 1.8 seconds in front of Marquez after lap 4, so Marquez had his chance. MM should have been sanctioned for biffing Bautista...

Darn straight: elbowed his way through the pack like an old lady with a shopping cart at a sales event. I really admire his talent, and maybe he represents the first wave of the new way of doing business, but I prefer 'best man and machine' over 'dodge-em dust ups': save that for grass track and dirt ovals.

The show of speed by Ducati is interesting . My understanding is the problem faced by their factory riders over the last few years was the complete unpredictability of the Ducs , not just from lap to lap , but even corner to corner . Most believed that they made as much or more power as even the Hondas , but their electronics were simply not capable of taming the incredible torque spikes involved in making 240 HP , or more , from 800 CC or 1000 CC engines . One thing to deal with 20 % spikes when one has 2 large contact patches as in an f1 car , bit different when leaned over at crazy angles and one small contact patch . Maybe Ducati has found an engineer , or engineers , who have this figured out . Let us hope so , would be cool to see three marques be competitive .

My DVR only got the last 30 minutes, due to DirectTV scheduling, bummer.

I was impressed on the topend of the Ducs, but the transition from there to getting stopped to lean in was a tad lacking compared to Rossi!  Heck of a race, and to see Rossi celebrate at the end was priceless.

Am I the only one who thought it odd to see very attractive umbrella girls "shading" and "sheltering" their respective riders at night, in the desert with no prospect of rain?  I know, I know, skin sells - but is was curious.

I guess we interpret Moto GP differently; you are referring to the class and I'm referring to grand prix racing on closed circuits.
I will follow Bastianini, Quartararo, Rabat, and a host of others simply because they provide great racing entertainment.
Hell, I'll even watch AMA....  :beat_horse

^^^  Moto3 was also a great race, and should also make for an entertaining season.  It looks like just about anybody in the field can score a podium finish.

Re: MotoGP (i.e., GP Class):

Here's a pic of the Ducati winglets:

Kind of surprised that the TV coverage didn't go into the details of the new Ducati, but the coverage sucked in lots of ways.  Cutting  to commercial exactly when there was a side-by-side battle for third place (why can't they window the race during commercials, like NBC's F1 coverage?), following the leader when the close racing was down a few places, following Marquez in the middle of the pack when there was a battle for the lead, etc.  Maybe the TV crew were just rusty?  I hope it improves over the course of the season.

Rossi!  What a smooth operator.

Marquez -- What is the opposite of smooth?  He looked fast but raw.

Dovi, Iannone, and Hernandez -- Good for them, and good for Ducati!  Cal is probably kicking himself for leaving.

Too bad about Lorenzo's hat; he was in it until the end.

Yeah, I don't like Pedrosa, but I wish him well.  I was never in the "his career is over" camp; I hope he can come back.  In the meantime, who will fill in?

How about Suzuki?!  First race back in like, what, five years?  And they finish in the points -- 11th and 14th.

Looks like Tech3 has stood still while the Ducati satellite teams have improved.  Tech3 needs to find an edge or they will become as irrelevant as the non-factory Hondas.

Meanwhile, Aprilia < sigh > -- Dead last in testing; dead last in qualifying; dead last in the race.  Sad.

And is it only me, or does Gigi Dall'Igna remind anyone else of Zonker Harris?

Has anyone mentioned this site https://motomatters.com for in depth MotoGP coverage.  Really nice info there.

He has as nice article written on Saturday before the race outlining how good the Ducati's are, he did miss on the Yamaha though.  https://motomatters.com/analysis/2015/03/29/2015_qatar_motogp_saturday_round_up_of_d.html

Ducati winglets: does anyone remember F1 Tyrell (around 1976?) having 4 front wheels?
Their attempt at stepping outside the box showed they were on the right path and... gaining an incremental advantage would not be tolerated for very long.

I think there are several Kawasaki Ninja models that have winglets on the fairings like that.
