Here's the full story: http://gearheadgrrrl.com/2015/03/21/forgive-me-fatherland-for-i-have-sinned/

'twas looking for a new tug of the dual sport persuasion for the 'hack and the Stelvio and Super Tenere was on my shortlist. I consider the bikes equals- Stelvio easier to work on but the Super 10 is lighter and has an excellent reputation for reliability and dirt road manners. Yamaha beat the best price I could find on a Stelvio in the midwest by over $3k, $10,500 OTD and extended the warranty to 5 years for another $600. So after the BMW devotees get done shaming me, will I be denied the sacraments of spaghetti and garlic bread at Guzzi rallies?

I looked @ those @ the local Yam/Tri shoppe. I like 'em If I didn't have the Tiger, I'd be all over that. I like the vintage yammerhammer striping in that one. Hmmmmmm I wonder if they would let me take one for a test ride????  It's nice to have a local dealer (guzzi content) ;D

Your purchase should ring bells at the mother ship.

If you can't sell a Guzzi to a Guzzi enthusiast, what does that say about your product?

Congrats on the purchase!

I have a Stelvio with DMC sidecar.  Don't worry, when the sidecar goes on we become our own brand and the model doesn't matter a bit.

OK, you can have spaghetti, but no Grappa!  You'll have to drink Sake.

One of the ladies on the Honda NT forum just got her Super10 back from DMC with the hack on it.  So far her only complaint is the tank slapping at certain speeds.  She described it as 'just like her Ural' but faster :)

I really like that "legendary lemon" of Germany line, tho, in fairness, that would be more aptly applied to the Trabant.   ;D

Seriously, had three Yamahas back in -- gasp!  :o -- the '60's, and still get a bit misty-eyed over them.  And, yes, Yvonne.  Sigh.   :D

Anyway, nice machine.  Congrats. Ride it "as intended."    :bike

Not only yes but Hell yes.  ;D  If it weren't for Harleys, BMW's and other brands there wouldn't be very many people at a Moto Guzzi Rally.  ~;

I started my MC life on Yamaha 2 strokes too back in the 60's.   Rode them for 20 years before switching to Guzzis mainly.  ;D

Actually I'm not worried about the Guzzi riders reactions... You've tolerated my BMWs and Buell all these years. But the BMW loyalists are getting rather sensitive...

I would have preferred the Stelvio because I'm more familiar with Guzzi and there's excellent online support here. Local dealer has a leftover '11 demo with 3K miles and still on MSO thus full warranty, but the bank that handles their flooring is holding it hostage and won't let them sell it for less than invoice, $13,600. I'd have gladly paid $12k for it as it's lighter than the '12 and later NTX version and it's wider rear wheel is better for "dark siding" with a 'hack.

BMW was completely out of the running- Too expensive, 150 miles to the nearest dealer, too unreliable! The Triumph Tiger looked tempting, but the sidecar subframe for it is pretty complex so it would need to be shipped cross country to get it fabricated. I like the big Strom a lot, but price was about the same as the Super Tenere and the Tenere has shaft drive, so that decided it.

Yup, been following the whole story of Katherine's new 'hack- She provided the "Guinea Pig" for DMC to design a sidecar subframe for.

Good.  She's a neat gal.  Her Ural was totaled last week.  Fortunately the folks riding it were not too badly hurt.  They hit a pothole that 'shoved' them into oncoming traffic.

PS it also explains why the steering may have a bug or two.
