I applaud your purchase.I have a pretty strong suspicion that I will long regret having not bought a Griso in general, and as opposed to the Calvin which I did buy, in particular. They really are stand-out motorcycles within a company of stand-out motorcycles within the industry. It struck me at the time as a Moto Guzzi version of Buick's GNX which is another non-buyer's-remorse decision of my past.
Great write up Brian, and BEAUTIFUL bike. Have to laugh....I live near Indy, and as most of you probably do, nearly daily, I go to craigslist and type "guzzi", cuz I'm a masochist like that. A few months back your Cali came up, being resold by C and D. They represent the lions share of Guzzi candy to be found in these parts, and there is ample candy. I had just enjoyed your V7 announcements, and recognized the bike immediately as yours. I ran to the shop here at work, because one of the guys is out of his mind for one after seeing mine parked out front day after day, having all the usual questions answered, realizing the value, and sick of seeing my sh*t eating grin upon arrival every morning and my clock watching every evening...It wasn't a good time for him, and your bike did NOT last long. Thanks for the heads up that i'll likely see your V7 on there in a couple of days, and this Griso was one I was appreciating from afar. Planning a ride to C and D as soon as I can trust the weather. Would like to see the iron in person and meet the guys. You're not the first I've heard speak highly of them. i'm not in the market, as I'm really very happy with my Jackal, but it can't hurt to give some justification to my longing...
Brian & Kidsmoke thank you both for the kind words! Brian I'm happy your diggin the new wheels! I as others was shocked at the trade knowing how much you loved the V7. It's great to get encouraging words that we're doing things right, I'm just a Guzzi junkie that try's my best and enjoys the whole process. Who's ready for a coupe Guzzi rally's, I know I am!
You all are making me really want a Griso, and an XRX. I have to look away from this thread now I'd love the orange body work of the XR1200 on an XR1200X with all the upgrades that come along with it, and the black engine and exhaust. Though, I like the white too. The black is too much black, and lacks contrast.
I'd love one of those XRX1200's also.
The White XRX looked REALLY good in person. It was strange though, a sort of a flat-pearl if you will.
Just asking.. but weren't there some major issues with the XRX ? re the fueling ecu ?
This fever is contagious!
I had the headers on my V7 Cerakoted at this place in NJ.http://www.gsdcoatings.com/cmsms/index.php?page=exhaustThey have many colors from Glacier Black (mine) to a chrome color. Not very expensive, and you may have a similar shop local to you. Mine have been holding up great, and pretty much look like they day they were coated.
