Congratulations Brian. I completely agree that is one of the nicest color combinations to be laid on a Griso. It is sharp indeed!

I applaud your purchase.

I have a pretty strong suspicion that I will long regret having not bought a Griso in general, and as opposed to the Calvin which I did buy, in particular.

They really are stand-out motorcycles within a company of stand-out motorcycles within the industry.

It struck me at the time as a Moto Guzzi version of Buick's GNX which is another non-buyer's-remorse decision of my past.

Still, I think the Calvin is nearing the block and a one-owner Griso may be a "thing" for me after all. Seems right to have one of them and a Sport 1100 as well.

I hope that it's everything you expected and more. Like the Centauro, these will really be something to hold onto.

Great write up Brian, and BEAUTIFUL bike.

Have to laugh....I live near Indy, and as most of you probably do, nearly daily, I go to craigslist and type "guzzi", cuz I'm a masochist like that. A few months back your Cali came up, being resold by C and D. They represent the lions share of Guzzi candy to be found in these parts, and there is ample candy. I had just enjoyed your V7 announcements, and recognized the bike immediately as yours. I ran to the shop here at work, because one of the guys is out of his mind for one after seeing mine parked out front day after day, having all the usual questions answered, realizing the value, and sick of seeing my sh*t eating grin upon arrival every morning and my clock watching every evening...

It wasn't a good time for him, and your bike did NOT last long. Thanks for the heads up that i'll likely see your V7 on there in a couple of days, and this Griso was one I was appreciating from afar.

Planning a ride to C and D  as soon as I can trust the weather. Would like to see the iron in person and meet the guys. You're not the first I've heard speak highly of them. i'm not in the market, as I'm really very happy with my Jackal, but it can't hurt to give some justification to my longing...

I totally get this... Though I'd still not give up my V7.

And ironically, I chose NOT to buy the HD Griso (XRX1200) and buy the V7 instead... And though I don't regret it, I do wish I could have figured out a way to buy both.

Fwiw the one time I rode a Griso I really thought it was a lot like an XRX or a Buell S3.

Brian & Kidsmoke thank you both for the kind words!
Brian I'm happy your diggin the new wheels! I as others was shocked at the trade knowing how much you loved the V7.

It's great to get encouraging words that we're doing things right, I'm just a Guzzi junkie that try's my best and enjoys the whole process.

You all are making me really want a Griso, and an XRX.   I have to look away from this thread now

I'd love the orange body work of the XR1200 on an XR1200X with all the upgrades that come along with it, and the black engine and exhaust.   Though, I like the white too.   The black is too much black, and lacks contrast.

 Don't look away too long.

I've driven both and they are indeed great bikes.  Wanna say the HD was maybe only the 2nd year they were out so I dunno how much they've changed per se.  I'm on the bike I personally would choose without hesitation.  I recall the Harley felt rougher, the fuel injection more herky jerky, and the ride a bit unforgiving.  The Griso just plain feels more top notch to me.  Still, there was a lot to enjoy about the HD too and I can easily see how someone would personally want one.  And in fact, it's ergos were really nice and immediately comfortable and upright - Supermotoish almost.  Fairly easy to toss around too.

I'm still regretting not test riding one the day that I was in the dealership and sat on one.    I had to get back to work for a meeting.

I came back that Saturday, and it was sold.  They never got any more in.   The XRX was discontinued shortly after.

 :thumb:

Don't have a picture of it but got the Corbin today from Randy (Red07) and it was immediately kinder to my needed legroom.  Threw on the Dart screen for Winter and put on the National Cycle handguards but had to grind them down a bit to mount onto the underside of the clutch/brake levers.  Not too fond of the latter but they'll serve my cold weather riding needs until it warms up.  Will work on cleaning those header pipes a bit better later next week.  Tried to mimic the Griso ad but it looks like I'm ducking from something.  As I told my friend on here, Ralph Glorioso (whom I sent the pics to earlier), probably dodging the tomatoes being thrown from the all too jealous onlookers :thumb: :bike-037:

Been a while since I've updated this thread.  Been about 1500 miles on the Griso so far.  My mods have been a Corbin seat, 2" Vario peg lowers, Woodcraft toe extenders for the pedals, and Rox risers on the bars.  I also added a smoked and kinda cheapy Spitfire shield that seems to do the trick but I'm not fond of it visually.  Modded some tinted National Cycle handguards.  I'll try and post some pictures a bit later.  The bike is getting to where me and my 32" inseam personally like it for sure and I'm having a good bit of fun with it. The Vario pegs did require me to use spacers even with the Woodcraft toe pedals. Continues to be one of the sweetest handling bikes I've ever ridden and the brakes are very good too but that's from a guy who has been lately riding (when it's running) a '99 Thunderbird Sport.  While I'm glad I got the Griso, I do very greatly miss the V7.

I've tried a number of different things to get the headers pipes back to where they were and I finally got close with a product called Autosol; yet, they are still not exactly where I'd like them to be.  What do you guys think of this?  Been giving it some thought.  Wish I could find a pullback photo to see how this looks generally?

Get the bike tuned up proper then visit the folks over at grisoghetto.com; they have maps that work out a bit better for the Griso (you'll need a laptop, Windows, Mac or Linux). Highly recommended; makes lower speed handling much nicer and the bike pulls from the basement when it did not before (goal of the new map, better mileage, better manners in the lower rpm range, not over all hp, which it does very well).

My pipes turned a nice warm color, goes well with the brown seat and green tank. The black on the pictured bike is not to my tastes so it gets a big "Meh". My CB1100's pipes turned a similar color but added in dark dark brown stripes where it appears stresses appeared in the pipe bending process. Like age spots, these are much less endearing.  And I'm having problems getting rid of them. The biggest problem I have with my Griso pipes are things getting melted against them.

Stelvio hand guards will fit the Griso and that is the route I took. I've added the Bike Master heated grips (I prefer heated glove liners, but if you left them at home....... :D ).

I had the headers on my V7 Cerakoted at this place in NJ.

They have many colors from Glacier Black (mine) to a chrome color.  Not very expensive, and you may have a similar shop local to you.  Mine have been holding up great, and pretty much look like they day they were coated.
