Yeah, I just can't get into the low profile tire thing. The tire sidewall is part of the suspension in my opinion.

Don't forget the lovely little Alfa Sud.  Sometimes called the best handling hot hatch of the 70s.

There were lots of Alfas in my family all through the 70s to 90s and still a few left.

I am working on slowly re-building one at the moment.  Will be starting for good just as soon as I have pulled off the gearbox on my T3 California and replaced all the seals.  Oh then have to finish the boat in the yard, so I can bring in the Sud.

Here is mine:

Reliable?   About the same as my T3 I would guess,  same era, same engineering, same nationality.

Fun?    he he....think you know the answer to that.

Go on....you know you want to..

Is that your red Mog in the background?   What breed is that one?

Yeah.  I'm really liking the collaborative Mazda/Fiat Miata/124.

My Miata was great, but adding the Italian style on top would be really nice.

Current Alfas are just way out of my price range, though I think the 4C and the Guilia are great cars.

All I've seen is photos and I like what I've seen, but I'd like to see the interior and exterior lines in person.

The restyled Miata is badged as a FIAT.  Not an ALFA.

Wife and I took the new 124 Spider for a test drive.  Liked it a lot.  It seemed as quiet with the top down as her BMW sedan.  Eerily quiet.  Interior was beautiful.  Only bit I didn't like was the sound of the hood closing. . .reminded me of my VW Beetle days.  That said, we thoroughly enjoyed a few test miles in it.  It's got the same MultiAir engine as my Abarth.  Doesn't feel as quick, though.  My bucket list car is the new Alfa 4C.

I guess my attraction to Alfa began back in high school.  Mom allowed me to stop at the Alfa dealership in Jackson, MS while we were in the big city.  The salesman was kind enough to permit a test drive a Milano Verde even though we told him we could only afford to window shop.  I still love the look of that car.   They subsequent US models seemed to get a little bloated.

Beautiful car. $41K and it needs a professional back to original paint job and a rebuild on the engine and transmission, though I could easily not do that and live with its current patina and modifications.

I don't own a GTV-6 myself but I do own a Giulia Sprint GT Veloce from 1967, wonderful car!

I do have spend quite some money on it, but come on, it is a 49 year old car. You can't expect it to be completely trouble less.

The Busso V6 in the GTV6 is one of the best sounding engines to my opinion! and the cars are supposed to have very good handling.

As all old cars examine the car as good as you possibly can. Visit the Alfa bulliting board and do a search for a buying guide for the tipo 116.

Also check this site out for information about the transaxle Alfa's http://www.alfagtv6.com/

BTW. A.L.F.A is a abbriviation of Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, so it doesn't have any connection with the greek letter Alpha. In Alfa Romeo circles it it strictly forbidden to write Alpha Romeo! So this is the last time you will see me do so

In Italy the greek letter is written "alfa" too.
It was one of those "meaningful acronyms". The creators of the "Alfa" brand, back in 1910 (that later was taken over by Nicola Romeo, becoming the Alfa Romeo) probably wanted to associate their product with the idea of "the first".
Like those of the "Fiat" wanted to recall the latin expression.

Sounds good. I always write alfa instead of alpha as homage to my old car in computer programs whenever the Greek letter comes up!

Wow, some neat cars!  Had a friend in my twenties with an Alfetta GT--white. It could run up Casper Mountain very fast.

New Fiat/Mazda Miata is on my radar still.  Waiting to see one appear at local dealership.  Also been casting about for Porsche Boxster S.  Caymans are rare to find.  Can now park in garage, that helps.

Yeah, what Dusty said.

My dad had a 66 Duetto Spider that he bought new. Wonderful car, wonderful engine. I learned to drive on my mother's car, but I REALLY learned to drive on the Alfa. I would love to have one of those now, or even one of its sisters, a GTV or Gulia. Back in the day of carburetors, those dual Webers were simply the best. Consider, back in 1966 it had (Stock): Aluminum engine. Double overhead cams, Twin 2 barrel Weber carbs, Tuned exhaust headers, Sodium filled exhaust valves, 5 speed transmission, Radial tires, 4 wheel disk brakes. There really was something special about Alfas. Don't know if that's still true, but I hope so.
