I'd find a way to get one of these!  Hesketh 24, although its not quite as sublime as the Hesketh Vampire, it looks wicked fun to ride!

The other two on my shortlist were the Bonnie and the Indian Scout. The Bonnie dropped off when I discovered they were made in Thailand...

The build quality on the New Triumph Bonneville is excellent.   I did not like the air injection (just plugged the hose to reduce exhaust bluing), but an outstanding machine.   Easy to get a bit more performance by simply removing the air box snorkel.   112 MPH + out of an 865 cc air cooled parallel twin.

If not riding 1 of my 3 Guzzis, I ride my Suzuki VX800 v-twin or 250/400 Piaggio MP3s.  They all meet my needs for different situations.  Have no desire for any others.  :thumb:

I understand the "appearance" thing, and I understand being interested in where a bike is made.

In this case, though, what's the knock against Thailand?

Just bought a Honda middleweight shafty that's pretty bulletproof... Nighthawk 700s from '85. My first non-Guzzi so will see how it works out. It fills the easy button around town and for maintenance.

In addition to my 2015 Norge and 2009 CalVin I still have an old Honda ST1100 that is probably the only motorcycle one would need for a lifetime of riding. I put nearly 300,000 miles on my first ST1100 and bought this one when the first went over 250,000 because I found it with low miles.
I don't add up the miles quite so fast when I split them up between three bikes.

I bought the Norge thinking it would be like the ST but with the Guzzi soul.  Not so much but love it anyway.

I probably should part with one of them but I can't pick............... ..

I'd have an R1100S.  Was looking for one when the 1200S revealed itself to me.  My best friend had one and I coveted that bike!

Hi Boat

"I just test drove a BMW F800GT. All I could think of was that it seemed to do everything pretty well (especially great balance at slow speed). However- there's no way I could do hours on the highway. It seems to have an unavoidable parallel twin buzz that was making my hands go to sleep. It might be a very good choice if it weren't a BMW and it weren't so much money."

Few years back we bought my wife a F800ST because it fit her (factory lowered bike). She loved it, low center of gravity, does twisties just fine, blasts down the slab all day at 80+ and has been known to do 100 mile stretches of gravel road without a hitch. When she bought it I road it and was completely horrified at the vibration but she was riding it so I kept my mouth shut. Several years later, after several road trips, with about 10K miles on it I road it again. Oh what a sweet bike no vibration just a nice pleasant bike with ample power and nice and light around town. I’m not sure when the change occurred but it did. You may want to take another look and here is the other thing, yep they are overpriced new but used they are attractively priced (lousy resale value) and I have seen some new 2015 bikes at dealers at reasonable prices. If I was not in the middle of building a house I would pick one up. That’s my 2c good luck and I sure you will let us know the outcome.

If we're talking newer bike, in the Guzzi's weight class I'd go with a Honda CB1100 in black as it has that same "capable all-rounder" vibe (I still wish Honda had done a modern CB550 lighter version). Otherwise, my top pick is the Ducati Scrambler, stylish, lightweight, good power and still air-cooled.

Since the V7II, rides included 2014 (uncrated 2017) Honda CB1100 and 2022 Triumph Street Twin

I purchased a 2022 Street Twin May 25, 2021 from the same Las Vegas dealer as my Moto Guzzi V7II in 2017…despite previous resolve to avoid in the future.

A shaft drive Triumph Triple or an XT 800.
But I’d say Triumph of some sort.

Dual sport 400-650cc single cylinder.
Road a FT500 for 10 years, favorite up until the Guzzi.
Wife no longer rides so I would downsize to smaller, lighter.

I would like to try a vespa like scooter for around town.
