Since the new importer took over Moto Guzzi sales have fallen by 52%. Aprilia sales by 66%!

Well, that would be just your LUCK.

Sorry to hear that for the brand, but it seems you made the right decision recently.

I hope this doesn't mean the support for guzzi goes back into the wilderness.  I have some good sources for guzzi spares for my breva. But my daily ride is a Aprilia pegasso and getting parts for it is a real pain. The new importer doesn't have any

I reckon I can probably get you most stuff for a *Modern* Guzzi quicker than the importer and at a competitive price! For older stuff talk to Mario or Steve. For Aprilia? AF1 are my 'Go To.'

Thanks Pete,
I use the guys from guzzi spares in Melb. You know them and they look after me.  The garage in SA has helped me out with the Aprilia but I've heard they have had their dealership taken off them

How does an importer go about being so completely incompetent , all they needed to do was follow the path laid out by the previous company and improve on it a little .

You don't think severing all dealer agreements with the brands, and therefore all customers' relationships with the brands might be a bad idea?

Maybe that cost them a tiny bit of good will?

Perhaps a little consumer trust has been lost?

And it's not like the new importer has a good reputation among riders, even if they had handled the changeover smoothly.

I was telling a mate of mine who the new importer/dealer is… his immediate response was, "Sell your bike, sell it now."

There seems to be very few people in those positions that will take a look at how things are working. They all act as if they want to reinvent the wheel in their own image. It could be the perfect operation. Then, they get their fingers in it and cluck it up.

If it ain't broke, they'll fix it until it is!

Pete, what does the 52% drop equate to in units?  In any case, the percentage drop for MG and Aprilia is huge.

First six months of 2017 Guzzi sales were 57 bikes for all models. Aprilia 59.

Wow.......last year I traded or sold 12 bikes, nearly 25% of all Moto Guzzi's sold in Australia. Hmm I wonder what the population difference is between Texas and Australia?

Well, I googled Texas and Australia, population near the same, 5 major cities same size. Wonder how many Guzzi's sold here?

I bought a new Guzzi in May. The new distributor is responsible for the warranty although apparently my bike is old JS stock. I imagine they're like insurance companies so regardless of who covers the warranty they're probably going to try wriggle out of it and make you jump through hoops if you make a warranty claim.

(sigh.) if you are anywhere near me I'll try and make things right as cheaply as possible, no, I'm no longer an official service agent but at least Michael and I have a quarter of a clue.

You'll have to explain Pete. I'm new to Guzzi's and haven't had a bike since 2002. And that one was a 1980 Morini Sport.

Nothing much to explain. I run a small Guzzi business focusing, unlike most, on the more *Modern* models. I used to be a service agent but could see the writing on the wall when the distributorship changed and bailed out. Everything I feared has come true. I'm sixty, I have no desire to spend my last few years cleaning up other people's shit but I will help anyone being stiffed by incompetence. I can't do it for free though and if anyone turns up and tells me what *I* have to do for *Them*? Well, they'll get very short shrift.

People come to us from a lot further away than Gipsland....

Apart from the cold this is one of the most wonderful times of the year.  Clear, bright sunny days, little wind and by 10.00AM it's well above freezing and by 2.00PM it can be 25-16*C. There are a lot worse places to live.
