Is there any interest in a Utah "Guzzi" get together?
« on: December 20, 2017, 06:29:17 PM »
I am considering putting together a modest get together the weekend after Labor Day in 2018, tentative dates are September 6th-9th. It would be an every other year thing (even number years) opposite of the Colorado get together. I communicated with Alan and have his blessing (didn't want to step on anyone's toes).

Initially keeping it pretty low key, I've never done this before so following Alan's plan from Ouray this year makes a lot of sense to me.

This first year I would have it in and around the Heber City area.  There are many great roads as well as some nice dirt for those so inclined.  There are camping areas as well as modest hotels in the area.  Plenty of restaurants to choose from and other points of interest in the area.

So I guess I am just putting this out there to see what comes of it.

I am pretty new to the ways of the Guzzi, but I have been bitten hard.  I have a 2014 Stelvio I purchased new in Aug of 2015, with almost 19,000 miles and a 2014 Cali Touring I purchased in April of this year and have put about 6,000 miles on it.

I attended the John Day rally in 2016, and various other get together last year as well as this year. I enjoy the vibe of the participants and would like to give back if I am able.

So let me know if this is something of interest. I have met 3 other Guzzi owners here in Utah and would be interested in meeting others and entertaining folks willing to come here and enjoy our surroundings as well.

We'd be in.  We used to be regular down in Panguitch before the tragedy.  Wonderful scenic and historic touring areas.

I'd be interested.  There was also some suggestion about Jackson Hole or Cody, WY for a fall Guzzi meet in 2018. Is anyone working on that?

Upper Stillwater Campground??

Although, for this bunch maybe East or West Grandaddy Mountain Campgrounds would be more appropriate!

Have gone to the Panguitch Guzzi rallies and interested in this.  Are you familiar with the Moto Guzzi National Owner's Club (MGNOC)?  Frank Wedge in Kansas runs it and the past rallies in Utah were put on by his Utah rep. who unfortunately got killed in a MC accident in Las Vegas, Nev.  I live near Kingman, Az.

I would be interested in that, can't say for sure if the time would work out for me, but if it does, Utah is one of my favourite places to ride. 190 from salt lake to Hebert city is a great ride, and there are so many others.

Yes, Wayne I am.  I am a member of MGNOC and have reached out to Frank.  He was very helpful in getting some ideas together and asked me to let him know and he would put it in the newsletter. I am working on getting an idea of the interest in general, and if there is, I will put in the leg work to make it happen.

Guess I will ask, is this one of the better places to get the message out to the faithful?  I was thinking it might be, there is a well followed thread on ADVrider.  I don't Facebook, but I understand that is well followed as well.

On another note, I believe I met you and your son in Death Valley in November of 2016.  I was on the copper colored Stelvio, it was my first time there.  I really enjoyed it, and meeting you and Duane.

I too, am interested, and I am sure we could get a reasonable sized group of dedicated GUZZISTI from Arizona to come north! :thumb: :1:   :thumb:

By the way, the 7th Annual "Gathering of Eagles" in historic Cottonwood, AZ is scheduled for the FIRST weekend in May, so look for the flyer to be posted here, and other places, very shortly. :thumb:

Never been in that part of the world.  It's about 1,250 miles from Central Texas so I'll need to ponder it for a bit.
