I'll never complain about the heat again!
« on: January 05, 2018, 12:49:00 PM »
With a high today not getting out of the teens, nighttime lows in the single digits and windchills way below zero. No chance to enjoy the Guzzi.

At least in the dead of summer when temps approach 100, I can go riding early in the cooler morning or late in the evening and enjoy it. But not with these winter temps!

I love these times as it gives me the pleasure of getting out the Qtips, tooth brush, stainless and chrome polish, wax and rags and really give the old Calvin a fine detailing.

Me too, high for the day -5F with a low of -17F and a twenty mile an hour wind. Several days of this crap now.

I was stationed in New York when I was in the Army. I don't ever want to endure one of those winters again! I like my little Louisiana town just fine!

I do complain about the heat. I went for a ride into town this morning ay 10am and it was 36 celcius (97 F for you poor folk still using imperial), and now at 1pm it's 42 in the shade and blowing a gale (107F).

At least when the temps are high I can open a vent.  When it is too cold there's no fun in riding,
. Just survival.  Haven't been out for a week with temps ranging from 3 F at night and 13 F during the day.  I've heard it said that there is a very thin line between strong and stupid!  My dog and I choose weak and warm.

Well Huzo and I and his mate Barry went for a 240 mile ride today. The temperature was a very nice 23 degrees for most of it and we enjoyed some very nice roads with lots of twisty bits. All done at very illegal speeds which would land a person in gaol here in Victoria.....if they were caught. Huzo and I were wearing identical (apart from age) Alpinestars jackets and we joked that Barry should get one as well. We were all riding red bikes. My Griso, Huzo's Norge and Barry's BMW. We stopped at Bacchus Marsh for a coffee and there were a couple of guys just about to leave and one of then was wearing the same jacket as Huzo and me. So we picked on Barry some more. Turns out the fella was from Milan here on holiday and he was riding a very nice Ducati sports bike with all the farkles. From there we rode through Werribee and on to Williamstown which is a trendy suburb of Melbourne. Huzo and Barry had never been there, so we stopped and had some lunch and a glass of wine and watched all the people and bikes parading up and down the Strand. After filling up with petrol we parted ways, Huzo and Barry heading off to Creswick via Ballarat and me back to Geelong. All in all a lot of fun, some great riding and a lot of bullshit bantered back and forth between us. sometimes it's great to be alive.

Yes mate, thanks for the tour, I like that place !
Also thank you for not taking me up on the idea that we swap bikes for a bit, I know that if I ever ride an 8 valver, I'll be rooted !!!
(I'm gunna' want one !)
It was very Euro (ish) there at Williamstown, and I just love the slight pretentiousness associated with delicately sipping a nice white wine and devouring a risotto, all the while perving my guts out at my own bike...
The setting was vaguely reminiscent of some of the more working class coastal villages around Italy, (the green, white and red graphics on the Pizza shop, set off the image of the red Griso and Norge a treat...
A bloody beaut day.
Let's not wait too long to do another.
Huzo.
