Taking as much slack as possible out of the throttle cables will smooth the on/off transitions. HH pads will help the brakes feel less wooden. As for levers? I'm a Pazzo convert, they are lovely.

Sounds like you might of found your next bike!

Being that it's a lot newer than mine, you probably already have the feature, but I installed rubber bushes on BOTH ends of the reaction rod on my '07, it does soften out the on/off transition a fair bit.
Also I have a habit of "cracking" the clutch in the lower gears ever so slightly to give some disconnect between the gearbox and engine.
I didn't know I was doing it 'till I saw some video footage.

Huzo, are the rubber bushes aftermarket, and softer than the OEM bushes on the reaction rod?

The more forgiving silentbloc bushes have been standard since about 2009-10.

Definitely more "silky" in the seat of the pants feeling when on/off throttle.
I can't say if they're softer or not.
Paul at Corsa in London fitted the front one while I was taking a leak !

No, haven't opened the engine for anything at all. I'm working with a very good mechanic for all the stuff I can't do myself, and he's going to check everything out while the clutch is being done.

The rubber shock absorbing bushings in the ends of the reaction rod visible in the shot.
The one partially obscured by the rear 'peg.

Yeah, handles so nicely once underway.  I had the mileage wrong in my first report.  A bit over 5,000 miles with local maintenance records at the dealership.

Got the bike all checked out and did the 6k service a little early.  It's as sweet as I thought.
Took the bags off, turned the heated grips on, and took her out for a ride this morning.  Brrrrrrrr!  Started at 38 F and got as low as 34.  May have to invest in some heated gear.

What a lovely ride though.  Solid handling that's surprisingly light/nimble.  At least it's surprising me.  Excellent comfort so far though an admittedly short ride; stopped for coffee after an hour.  Windscreen has a bit of buffetting even at its highest setting but I can easily duck down into a totally smooth pocket.  May/may not try other options.

It's a good day.

Ya man...the valley is quite cold this weekend for sure...

As for windshield buffering, if just a bit of ducking required, then possibly look into the windshield extensions a lot of enduro rider uses.

I found of me at 5'10" that the stock screen was tall enough but it didn't block enough wind around my shoulder areas in cold weather. Switched to the medium Cal/Sci screen and have been happy ever since.

Yeah (Timmy & GliderJohn):  those are both options I'm considering if I decide to do something about the screen.  I want a real multi-hour ride under my belt before I jump to one of those.

I also saw mention of risers in this thread or a different one.  Also considering those; I wouldn't mind the bars coming back toward me a little.  Short arms or more lean than I'm used to.

I've posted this shot before so sorry to everyone, but this is what you require IMO.
There's a story(as usual), but let's know if you're interested.

I was off enjoying a bit of the Youtube video of your 2017 trip.  Gotta love Brothers in Arms, eh?

Yeah, I'd be interested to know your setup.   If you've already posted about it, happy to look it up.

Yeah that is the first cut done by my young bloke.
Some major continuity errors but they've all been fixed on the final DVD.
The outro song is a personal favourite though.
Annyywwaaayyy....
There'll be those who've read this before so if you've had enough, now's  the time to turn the page..
You'll notice that the standard 'bars on the Norge are too wide and more's the point, your wrists kink through about 15 degrees if you want to have your palm flat on the 'grips.
So.
I chucked the up/down switches  for the screen and installed a two way toggle switch below the left handlebar, reducing overall bar width by 100 mm, this also puts your hands inside the more protected area of the fairing.
Next time you're out, hold your palm straight up at grip level, then move it inwards 50 mm, you'll see my point.
So to the 'bars.
I took the original 'bars out and set them aside.
Then took a piece of suitable stock and turned a diameter to fit back in the riser and tapped a thread in the end so it can be secured in the riser like the original bar.
Having done that, I mounted the 80 mm long piece in a jig in an independent 4 jaw chuck so it was 15 degrees off axis in the lathe and turned the other end so it would shrink fit into the original handlebar.
Make 2 of these but DO NOT remove the jig from the chuck between the two operations or you'll NEVER get them the same.
Shrink the handle bars on to the spigots, blind weld them and re fit them into the risers.
Now your 'bars will be 60 odd mm closer to you where you grab them and you will have a straight line down your arm through your wrist.
Happy days !!
